2 out of 5 stars Kinda cheap, not all cats like it   April 28, 2007
It comes as a piece of fleece on a pole that is too short (shorter then the picture looks), you have to be standing next to your cat to get it above them. I could see the pattern on the material but it didn't interest my 2 grown cats that much. One cat sprints after a laser pointer for minutes at a time but the cat charmer didn't hold her interest for long. The other cat is more laid back and didn't care for it.

I bought two other cat toys at the same time to test them out.

The cat dancer metal wire thing Cat Dancer, didn't hold the cats interest much either and has awkward to hold. The movement is pretty random but they didn't go for it.

Da bird Da Bird Interactive Feather Cat Toy (easy store pull apart rod) had a nice design that made the feathers spin while in air. The pull apart rod was sturdy enough and let you manage up close with it. Interested my lazy cat to bat it, he liked feathers as a kitten so these toys probably work best when introduced young.

5 out of 5 stars Cat Charmer   March 15, 2007
Another score from the people at Cat Dancer products. This toy is fun and wiggly. Your kitty will chase it around corners behind couches and up in the air. Wiggle just right it looks like a snake. I is so colorful it really catches the cats eye. One thing my kitty is only 18 months and He really liked it until He chewed on it. Then He really liked it and at night ate about 6 inches. It came UP the next day. So put it up except when you are around to supervise. I guess thats what I get for buying such fun toys. It makes me obsolete (sob, sob, sob). Go ahead and try the toy use it carefully your kitty will love it. It is very fun.

4 out of 5 stars A fun toy   February 27, 2007
My kitty loves her Cat Charmer! It's soft and light, so I can make it wriggle in the air, causing her to leap for it. She likes to snatch it and roll up with it on the floor so I can't pull it away. It's really adorable. I was surprised because she usually doesn't like things that don't involve feathers...

5 out of 5 stars Secret Formula?   January 8, 2007

my cat got this as a christmas present (not from me, though). before i got it out of the wrapping, she was running over to snatch it. and i thought, oh no, it must have catnip that she smelled.

but no! it does not use catnip. it's just a brightly-coloured and square-patterned cloth strip on a light wand. and somehow, this makes cats go for it... it even warns on the instructions: the cat charmer may make some cats act aggressively towards it.

yep, it did! and without even getting it out of the wrapping paper. after getting it out (i hate when people tape the paper to the package!), it's even more fun. you can dangle it like a typical string/teaser, or lay it out along the floor and make it wriggle and writhe.

great for excercise, and the cloth is all-natural and non-toxic for when kitty stuffs it in her mouth. also it is a fleecy/felt sort of material, so there are no threads for her to get her teeth into and start tearing holes. (she does, however, try to shear through it with her molars!) this is just a great toy, and i still don't know how the cat psychologists at the cat charmer company do it!

4 out of 5 stars A Great Interactive Toy   January 8, 2007
This a great interactive toy and just the right length. Also, good quality construction. My cats both like this and you can make it do a lot of different things depending on how you manipulate it. It can be a snake, worm, bird etc. One of my cats drags it around at night and howls as well.
