5 out of 5 stars Hatchet loves it!   November 14, 2008
We got this in a size medium for our Umbrella Cockatoo. She loves it. She wasn't to thrilled with having a new perch in her cage but once she got on it she's been using it ever since. After a bath she heads right to it. She sleeps on it every night. Even though the cord is "protected", nothings protected from an umbrella cockatoo. We solved an problems that may happen by placing the perch so the cord comes out the back of her cage against the wall where she can not get to it. Wouldn't trade this perch for anything. Getting 2 more for our cockatiels and keets.

We get about 8 months of cold weather and this purch is just what our bird needed. She was a little afraid for a couple of days, now she loves it.

2 out of 5 stars KH Large Thermo Perch   October 28, 2008
I bought this for my Umbrella cockatoo. From the start she hated it, and would not go anywhere near it. Then a week later when she was out of the cage, she bit the "protected" power chord and disabled it. I spliced it back together and thought that there must be a better way. So, with a file. I filed out the cord slot, soldered and epoxied a small female plug jack. Then soldered the male jack to the armored power chord, thus fixing the unit. Now I can take the chord out when she is out, without fear of her cutting the chord. For large birds power chords need better shielding, or making them with plug jacks so that it can be detached when the bird is out. Also, the perch should have a rougher finish so that the bird has a firmer grip. I had to rough mine up to get my bird to finally perch on it. I am sending my modification as a suggestion to KN this weekbr /

5 out of 5 stars Couldn't live without it!!   July 10, 2008
A must have, My Goffin's cockatoo is a recovering picker and is fluffy but has no mature feathers. She sleeps on her heated perch every night and took to it the day I put it in. (Even though a REPLACEMENT toy takes a month to get in to her cage!!)I was concerned about the level of heat but she spends quite a bit of the day on it, I'm letting her be the judge. I'm getting one for the amazon right now! I think it is important that they be able to warm up when they need to and Molly's is well used - over a year now!!

5 out of 5 stars k H small thermo perch   March 30, 2008
My cockatiel loves it. You have peace of mind knowing that your bird is warm. The size is a bit different that other brands, the small one looks more like medium, take measurement before you buy it. I would buy it again!
