Barking Problems Mostly Gone! May 6, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this after carefully reading many reviews and saved a lot of money than purchasing it at a local pet store. It needs refills about once a week, but I have had it over a month and have yet to need a new bottle. The batteries were replaced once and periodically need to be taken out, cleaned and placed back. The collar is much too large for smaller dogs, so I cut it. If company comes over and at night when the dog is inside, we take it off.
Good Idea, But Not For My Dog May 6, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The product was easy to figure out, worked as it was supposed to but did not curb my dog's barking. I had to purchase the electronic shock collar which is working very well.br /br /I would still recommend the Gentle Spray collar to try first.
Had high hopes for this product, but.... April 19, 2007 I was disappointed with this product. I was very happy when I found out that there was a bark collar available that wouldn't hurt my dog.br /br /Unfortunately, our unit only gave off a few sprays, if any, before running out of citronella. We reread the refilling instructions repeatedly and followed them exactly, but even if the dog barked right after filling, the unit maybe gave off 8 sprays. Usually by the time there was something to bark about, the citronella had run out while the collar just hung unused around his neck.br /br /I did not contact the manufacturer about these issues, so I can't comment on whether or not our unit was defective or if customer service could have helped us. I guess I didn't feel that operating a bark collar should require much time or effort on my part, so I just gave up on it, especially after finding that many other reviewers had similar issues.br /br /Our dog did pause after each bark when the collar sprayed (it may be kind of mean, but we enjoyed watching his confused reaction when it DID spray.) The few times the collar sprayed a couple times in a row, our dog only got in a few random barks before he gave up or there was no reason to bark anymore. br /br /I feel this bark collar is a very poor investment, but it is a good idea and could be very effective if it held it's charge when not in use and was able to spray many more times per refill.
No Luck Here April 13, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
After exhausting all possible training methods I succumbed to this collar for one of my dogs. He barks at anything and everything. He barks while he's playing and has a ball in his mouth, he barks in his sleep, he barks while you're sitting there petting his belly. He isn't bored, there's no reason for it most of the time and I was at my wit's end. The collar hasn't phased him and he now knows how to move his head when he barks so the spray doesn't hit him full on. However if he is exceptionally excited about something he just barks until it is out of spray and he doesn't care at all. So this did not work for me, however I do know of someone that this worked wonders for. I think it all depends on how badly your dog wants to bark. Mine really wants to. Very badly. I gave this product 3 stars because it does what it's supposed to do, it sprays citronella when a dog barks. I received a faulty unit and when I called customer service they were very pleasant, ensured it wasn't something I was doing wrong and then replaced it and I received it quite promptly. So I was impressed with that. It just doesn't work on my dog.
Peace and Quiet Again! April 11, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This collar really works for our dog, as she was just starting to become a nuisance barker. It was recommended by a friend who is a vet. Works great!
