I bought this training collar to train a hard-headed German Shepherd puppy, but the collar does not trigger every time I press the button on the remote.br /br /For maximum effectiveness I would expect 100 percent reliability and I would rate this one at 60-75 percent reliable. I would not recomment it to the serious dog trainer.br /br /It does not seem to be the battery hog as others have indicated, but the inconsistencies noted in its failure to function every time lead me to give it a low rating for quality, performance and reliability.br /

This has been a good training tool for our dog. We just need to use the sound on it now. We bought it to train her to not jump on people. It has worked but she tends to pee a little when used so be careful when using indoors. We use it at a very low level. It only took a couple of times using the shock part.

I was initially pleased with the product as it worked as described. Within a couple of months of very light use (I have two dogs who only need a "reminder" once in a while), the buttons cracked open on the transmitter. This essentially bars its use in a wet environment. Not good. My other beef is that it is truly a pain to change batteries. I've had other more expensive and rechargeable trainers in the past, and they were tougher and easier to use. Lesson in this: you get what you pay for. I should know better.

This item should be used with extreme caution. I purchased this to stop my dog from jumping my fence in the back yard. After 3 days of introducing it to him and 2 hours of watching him from a distance and 2 corrections "shocks". He was cured. SET TO THE LOWEST LEVEL THAT GIVES YOU A REACTION. YOU ARE RE-DIRECTING THE DOGS ATTENTION MORE THAN CORRECTING.

i bought this product though a pet store and it worked great for about two weeks, the range on it was awesome, now i have to be within 15 feet of my dog for it to work. new batteries didnt help either.
