Good product. December 22, 2008 My wife bought our first Litter Maid box about 5 years ago. It was the smaller model (I don't keep track of model numbers for cat litter boxes.) When we got a new, bigger cat, it proved too small; he'd jam it regularly. It finally burned out its motor.br /br /This one is big enough for our large cat, and is a lot quieter. It also shuts itself down and flashes a warning light if he jams it. But that's happened only once so far. br /br /This is a good product, and well worth the money.
littermaid litter box December 18, 2008 Litterbox works great. My cats love always having a clean litterbox and it is much easier for me to clean. Only gripe is it is a little noisy and there is some litter spillage
Cat loves it. December 18, 2008 i have had no problems with this self cleaning litter box. It does everything it is supposed to do. I think that getting premium clumping litter like the manual recommends is very important. My cat likes having a clean box every time she goes to it. I can tell because the cat used to howl at the door to go outside and that has not happened once since getting this litter box.
Automatic Dissapointment December 16, 2008 Great idea, poor (or more specifically, incomplete) execution.br /br /Pros:br /* Attractive designbr /* Carpeted cat ramp is a nice touchbr /* When it works correctly, its fantastic.br /br /br /Cons:br /br /* Disposable top lid becomes easily disattached from its holder, resulting in all further poo being stacked on top of the lid, rather than inside the container, as advertised. If you buy one, you'll immediately see the potential for this as you assemble it, then see what I mean a day or so later. Just little kitten feet walking up ramp can cause this to occur. This is so obvious a design flaw that I'm surprised it wasn't considered by the engineers.br /* On-going cost of ownership- I expected that I'd have to buy refill containers, but was surprised to find that they do not include the carbon odor eliminators that come with the unit.br /* Short power cord - I had to run an extension cord in order to position the box in the closet.br /* Works only with clumping litter, rather than crystals and pine, so the dust cloud I got rid of by switching litter is back, particularly when I have to scoop or pour more litter into the box.br /* Litter still ends up on the floor - not from the cats bringing it out but because litter will spill over the container and onto the floor. I would have hoped the designers would have considered this and built something under the box to catch the excess.br /br /br /Overall:br /When it works right, its really great. I love having a clean box without having to scoop everyday. Unfortunately, when the top comes off the container, I end up having to handle cat poo anyway. Bummer.br /
Large Small models are awful! December 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have both the large small models. The small one works better than the large. Neither work well and it is almost easier to go back to a manual box. Their lack of performance have caused me to look again for another self cleaning litter box. The two are messy and mut be emptied every 2 days. The larger one does not even get its "load" into the tray. Do not buy either one!
