I purchased the furminator for our 9 year old German Shepherd. Twice a year she would shed a lot when she would shed her summer and winter coat. Normally during that time you would see tumble weeds of hair rolling around our house(if you have a shepherd, you know what I mean!) I would have to brush her 2-3 times a day. With the furminator, I only have to brush her once a week. Once the coat was shed, I haven't had to brush her at all? I have only had the furminator for about 6 months. So far, it is amazing!!!

I seriously can't understand a poor review on this product. A neighbor said she had just found the best shedding tool ever but she didn't tell me the name. I assumed it was this one after doing some research, and sure enough it was. Then totally without my input, my mom bought one for her dog and called me to recommend it. This thing is awesome. Found it to be an excellent dematting tool as well and the cats never flinch. If anything, they try to play with it. Also came in handy when the kitties got into some sticky mess. I was able to brush it out with this instead of cutting clumps of fur out.

After owning a useless knock-off, this is my second Furminator (dropped and chipped the first on concrete) and this product works great. This exact product was as a major pet supply retailer for $50, and I picked it up at Amazon for about $20. I have a dog with short fur and a thick undercoat and nothing even comes close to the Furminator. During shedding season, I end up with a pile of fur big enough to make another dog out of. My curry comb, bristle brush or slicker don't even come close.

4 of the teeth on my furminator have already broken off in less than a week of ownership.br /It doesn't really take out as much of the undercoat as they advertise.br /Save your money and purchase a less expensive dog comb or brush.

This product does just what it says it will. It was amazing. Our dog doesn't seem to mind it at all. We are seeing much less hair around the house. It does take several "combing" sessions to see a big difference, but once you take the time a few days in a row, all I can say is WOW!br /Our dog is half Siberian Husky and half Black Lab.
