1 out of 5 stars Didn't Work   October 1, 2008
The collar worked for two days, but thereafter, our dog decided to put up with the smell just so he could keep barking.

1 out of 5 stars Went off when other dogs barked, quit working after a month   September 29, 2008
Worked good at first, except when other dogs or loud sounds were around. It works off of a microphone, so when another dog barked anywhere near my dog, the thing went off. so, we were constantly having to turn the thing on and off. No big deal, still liked it. however, within a month it just quit working. Replaced the battery after going to 5 stores to find the right size, and $10 late, still nothing.

After doing more reading, I'm now going to buy the high-sound emitting one that works off of vibrations instead of a microphone. I'm hoping this will be one we can keep on her even if we're not home.

4 out of 5 stars Lifetime Warranty (even without a receipt!)   September 24, 2008
I bought a few of the Citronella anti-bark collars, but I must have over filled them because the seal broke and they begun to leak. But true to their word, Premier offers free replacements so I got the new (refurbished) ones in the mail and they worked fine. They also sent me a free can of citronella spray to make up for any that leaked out. And I didn't even have to present my original receipt.

My neighbors have stopped complaining and I'm not afraid to leave the house anymore.
And the dogs smell lemony-fresh!

I definitely recommend this product.
And I definitely recommend buying it from Premier.

Good luck with your barking dogs!

3 out of 5 stars Might work for some but my Newfie was too stubborn   September 23, 2008
My Newfoundland did not stop barking when using this collar. It worked for a short while then he just ignored it. However, as noted elsewhere by other reviewers, some dogs are more willful than others. We call our boy the "Barkmaster General" because he just LOVES to hear himself talk.

Even a shock antibark collar didn't work for him. I wouldn't fault the product per se, but it may or may not work for you depending on your dog.

There is another issue with build quality and reliability. Our unit broke in an easy-to-fix way: the strap bracket broke off. I was able to easily make another one using 2-part Plastic Weld glue (normal epoxy etc will not stick to the plastic, but Plastic Weld works like a champ and is super-strong). I put the strap around the unit, laid down a strip of foil over the strap where I was gluing, then applied a "bridge" of glue from one side of the broken-off bracket over to the other side. Once hardened, this essentially recreated the strap bracket and it's completely useable once more.

There is another issue with the unit. After sitting on the shelf for a few years, I tried to fire it up again with a fresh battery and spray, but no-go. The mechanism inside might be glued shut by old leftover spray that hardened (I'm just guessing). I suspect this might be an issue if you stop using it for a long time then need it again. Admittedly, this won't be an immediate use issue for most people. I wonder if there is a way to run some alcohol or similar cleaning fluid thru the mechanism to prepare it for storage?

5 out of 5 stars Great   September 23, 2008
It actually works! My dogs behavior is even better and he never fought me when putting it on!
