4 out of 5 stars So close to being a great alternative to clump litter   August 18, 2008
I have been using this system for just under a month. I bought this so I could get away from the cat litter being spread all over the house. I used World's Greatest Cat Litter (corn based) and it did a great job in keeping odor to a minimum. But it did track alot of litter around the house and really didn't clump well enough to prevent the cats stepping in dirty litter.

This system has just a few pellets that escape the box but go no further than just outside the box. I followed the instructions for transitioning my cats to the new litter and it was simple. One of my cats took to it in just a day or so, the other, -- always a bit picky anyway, took about a week.

Very easy to clean, however you have to put the litter somewhere -- I was used to simply flushing the litter down the toilet with World's Greatest -- I don't believe you can do that with this system so I would recommend that you pick up a "Litter Locker" by Petmate. It can take the litter and the pads and really covers up the odor. You then empty it every week.

The real problem with this system is that the pads have no odor control. I have one litter box for two male cats. The pads absorb the urine well but the cats back into the litter box so only half the pad is used and is saturated in about a day. I find I have to turn the pad around so the other half can be used. I also sprinkle baking soda on the pad to further control the odor. And it works! I put in two/three pads a week for the two cats.

By the way, I did not buy three systems (which is the company's recommendation for two cats) because I didn't want to have to clean 3 boxes and use 3 times the materials. I clean the box twice a day and with the additional elements I detailed above, one box works well.

Pros: No tracking of litter, easy cleaning.
Cons: Odor control is horrible but can be controlled. No hood, which is nice to have if for the only reason is you don't have to look at a dirt litter box. Finally, this may be more expensive than regular litter if you decide to buy multiple kits, or need the "accessories" listed above.

4 out of 5 stars Works Great. More expensive than advertised! (I need two bags of pellets)   August 17, 2008

The first day my cats thought I had totally lost it. I decided to add a second bag of pellets even though Tidy Cats claims you only need one. I found you definately need two. For one, the cats like to dig around and there isn't enough without it. Secondly, if your cat has softer poo all the pellets will stick to the poo and you have to throw them out with the poo which results in less and less pellets each time they use the box. The best part is that the pee goes right to the pad, I hated scooping pee that was stuck to the bottom of the old box and then having to wash out the box. This is much clear, albeit more expensive, but worth it! The pellets do find their way outside the box but I just pick them up and throw them back in. It took about 4 days for my cats to use it for pee and poop. Not scooping the old box was essential to their success, stinky as it may have been.

5 out of 5 stars lifesaver!   August 17, 2008

I have an anxious kitty that requires an immaculate litter box. When we travel for a weekend, or if even one of us goes away, he begins urinating on the furniture if the box isn't fresh. I bought the Breeze to see if this didn't help ease him - and it DID! i put it right next to our regular scooping clay box, and he preferred the Breeze for pee. Our other laid back kitty also started to choose the Breeze, except for solid waste. After one month of the old and new box sitting side by side and an additional breeze, we are clay litter free! They adapted easily to not having the clay for solid waste, though they do kick the pellets around a bit trying to cover their poop. Very easy to sweep, but wish the sides went up even higher for my nutty cats.

No stink, no clay all over the floor, no breaking my back carrying boxes of litter!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!!   August 16, 2008

I purchased this system about 6 weeks ago and I am such a HUGE fan. I have two cats who (lucky for me) are not the least bit picky about their litter. I've tried everything-- scoopable, crystals, traditional clay litter, wheat litter, pine pellets-- you name it. Even though Purina recommends having two boxes for two cats, I have one box and just change out the liner a little more often. It's AMAZING. I have hardwood floors throughout my home, and there is ZERO tracking, ZERO dust and ZERO stink. You cannot even tell that I have cats in the house (but for their toys and furballs!). I cannot recommend this product enough. RUN and grab it. You will be pleasantly surprised at the improvement.

5 out of 5 stars IT CHANGED OUR LIVES!!!   August 16, 2008
Honestly, having several cats at one time all my life I am ready to admit that this litter box system is the best I have ever experienced. Our cats adjusted completely, no accidents, within 3 days having it near the old one and taking the old one away after 2 days. No tracking, no dust (good for cats/people with respiratory problems), as well as, incredible odor control, urine absorption and cost efficiency. Since 99% of the pellets fall away from(our cats)poo, the 3.5 lbs of 'litter' lasts a very long time. And as another customer said, the pads are unbelieavable at absorption! We have up to 4 cats using (1) Breeze system and we dispose of the pad once a week -- no problem and no odor! Can't say enough good about this product! Incredible deal on Amazon right now...otherwise $49.99 at Petco!
