5 out of 5 stars Powerful   February 15, 2008
I have a Siberian husky (~65lbs) and a black lab (~65lbs) that picked up bad flea infestations when I moved into a new apartment. Treated them with pyrethrin based sprays and all the floors with the same for a week straight, with very little relief or results from it.

After comparing Frontline with Advantage, BioSpot, and a few other brands, I chose to use Frontline because of it's proximity lethality for fleas - where the dogs go (corners they lay down in, anywhere they lay to chew bones, etc), the nearby fleas and flea eggs die, without having to hop aboard. The package says it kills fleas within 24 hours. My experience was about 24 hours for my Lab to be flea free, and about 48 hours for the husky. The husky had the worse infestation and the double coat makes for lots of warm hiding places for bugs as well as hinders the spread of any topical insecticide. This stuff still cut right through it through.

Apparently, Frontline also works well at killing spiders, or spiders' food supply. Before applying it to the dogs, we'd find several spiders every week, randomly crawling around the apartment. Since a little after the initial application, we haven't found any. Kinda nice having two roving insect killers who don't even know it.

5 out of 5 stars Good value! Good, good purchase.   December 26, 2007
If I get this stuff from my vet, I can't get it in these large packages and it's TWICE as expensive. I checked around at other local pet supply places, same thing, almost 2x's as much per dose.

This is great because I only have to order twice a year, it comes right to my door, and I save a lot of money.

As far as this product, I buy the cat and dog versions for my pets, it works great and doesn't seem to have any ill effects. In the winter my dog needs it about every 6-7 weeks, the cats only need it about every 10-12 weeks. In the summer my dog needs it every 4 weeks, cats every 6-8. Ticks LOVE my dog, and this stuff really keeps them away. Good stuff, good purchase, good price.

5 out of 5 stars Frontline Plus...it works   November 12, 2007
Twelve years and three dogs and Frontline Plus never failed. All my dogs were flea ant tick free. I have lived in Florida with a sandy yard and lots of fleas--husky shepherd remained flea/tick free. I moved to an area of Maryland that backs to a creek, low-lying swamp wetlands, and is wooded. There are more deer than people and lots of other wildlife. None of my dogs ever had fleas or ticks. We take the dogs hiking in woods--no fleas or ticks. I love this product. It's especially nice that you can bathe the animal and not worry about the product losing its effectiveness. Unfortunately, some people apply the product infrequently in an effort to save money, or they apply it only when the dog shows signs of fleas or ticks. I know a person that only uses it in the warm months and stops it in the winter. These folks then say why didn't the product work? The product has to be used as directed--a once a month application. Buy it you'll like and your dog will love you more!

My dog got a tick at the end of the month cycle. It is hard to state if my application was less then perfect or stuff just evaporates at the end of the cycle. At least there are no allergies noted so far.

5 out of 5 stars Protect your pet and your family.   October 10, 2007
I have used Advantix and Front line plus, I belvie I have better results with Front LIne PLus. We have 4 large indoor dogs and no flea or tick problems to report. IF you follw the directions, front line will work for at least two months.
