Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
All natural substrate for desert dwelling reptiles. Pure, very fine quartz desert sand--better than silica sand stimulates natural digging and burrowing behavior. Natural colors. No added dyes or chemicals. Excellent egg-laying medium for many reptiles. Recommended for bearded dragons and other desert agamid lizards, leopard geckos, soft-shell turtles, tarantulas and scorpions, uromastyx lizards, sand boas, sandfish lizards, collard lizards, plated lizards, desert iguanas, desert and semi-terrestrial skinks (schneiders, ocellated, or sand), leopard lizards, girdle-tailed, plated, or armadillo-type lizards, and burrowing frogs (spadefoot, true toads). Instructions: Pour contents of bag into the bottom of terrarium. Sand should be at least one and one-half to two inches in depth. Add more for burrowing species (i.e. sand boas, soft-shell turtles, etc.). Clean out debris as needed with sifter, litter scoop, or spoon. Replace sand if foul or musty smell persists, as least every 12 months for small species, six months for larger or "messier" species. Helpful Hints: When using Zoo Med's Reptitherm U.T.H. in your terrarium, place one layer of Zoo Med's Repti Cage Carpet down first, then Repti Sand. This prevents burrowing reptiles from resting directly above heater, resulting in possible burns. Provide a dish of vitamin/calcium powder (i.e. Zoo Med's Reptivite) to prevent overconsumption of sand in many gecko species. Many desert reptiles and invertebrates (i.e. insects and spiders)
