I've tried to go without the carbon filter, but she doesn't seem to drink as much when/if I do. Great filters   June 8, 2008 These filters are great in the fountain they are designed for. My cats love the water fountain. My only complaint is you have to keep an eye on sludge that might build up from dry cat food. Somehow my cats manage to drop food in the water sometimes. Each box is 3 filters, it is not a box containing 3 packs of 3. Great product   September 10, 2007 Love the fountain and need the filters. Both products are great! My cats love the fresh water and it keeps them healthier. I would have given the product 5 stars, if the cost was a bit lower.
