 Great toy October 5, 2008
My 4 year old Lab got his first Rhino Rope toy about 3 years ago and it was his most favorite toy. Even after so many years of chewing and tugging that toy showed very little wear. Unfortunately I got a little too enthusiastic while throwing it for him and it got stuck in a tree. I tried to find another one locally but none of the local stores carry them. I did get him another brand of tug toy but he would not play with it. br /br /When I would take him outside to play he would sit and look at his old toy and cry. He would not even play with his brother and sister. I had to find him another Rhino toy and was very happy to find it on Amazon. Needless to say I ordered it immediately. br /br /When the toy came I was a bit worried that Tucker would not like the new one and continue to pine for his old friend in the tree. As soon as he saw it he started bouncing and when I threw it he took off after it. He has been playing with it ever since. That was about three weeks ago and the toy still looks new even with a Lab and Golden retriever playing tug with it every day. br /br /I love this toy because it gives my dogs many hours of fun and it holds up to rough play from two big rambunctious dogs. Their record for demolishing a toy is five minutes so anything that lasts several years is great. I also am very pleased with KV Vet Supply and would gladly order from them again.br /
 Very Well Made, But.... July 13, 2008
The "Dynamic Duo," (a male Westie and a female Scotty), have been unenthusiastic about the Rhino Rope Toy - Football. Frankly, that surprises me, as they are avid chewers/tuggers and they have several rope toys among their favorites, (and the Westie loves football-shaped balls). So what gives? Darned if I can figure it out, (although it just might be the toy's "fresh mint scent"), but they won't play with it. Putting aside the fact that my "testers" won't test it, it appears to be very well made, (as Nylabone products usually are). The rope is long enough so that you can have a full-tilt tug of war with your dog, and the football is firm enough so that it will withstand a good gnawing and yet soft enough so that there's little danger that your dog will injure it's teeth or gums. I'm a little leary of the manufacturer's claim that the toy will clean your dog's teeth, but what the heck. Presuming that your dog will actually play with it, clean teeth may be an added benefit.br /br /[My original review, (above), was written in July. Now, two months later, (September), the Dynamic Duo have finally begun to play with the toy. In the last couple of weeks they have chewed, gnawed, pulled and tugged on it - and so far it looks brand new. It's holding up extremely well. As I said, I have no idea why they didn't play with it initially, (unless it is the "fresh mint" scent - not a common smell in my house) - nor do I have any idea why they are playing with it now - some strange canine strategy to drive me nuts, no doubt - but if your dog will play with it, it's an excellent toy.]
