Give the flexible wand a wiggle and the snake-like end will serpentine across your floor. Caution Never crack the toy like a whip near your cat.  Initially ignored, now favorite toy July 8, 2008
I bought this for my two kitties when they were young and they weren't interested. They preferred the Cat Dancer, Da Bird and little mice. I was going to give this toy away, but decided to give it one more try, particularly because my little girl cat is submissive in interactive play and lets my boy cat take over, meaning she doesn't get much exercise. I figured since he didn't like the cat charmer, maybe I could get some play time in with her if I could get her interested. Well, I don't know what happened to change their minds, but now both of them can't get enough of it. Like one reviewer, I have to put it away or my boy cat will chew off pieces of the fabric. Best of all, my girl cat plays and plays and doesn't just watch my boy cat play. Not only will I not be giving the cat charmer away, I'm going to order more (ours is held together by knots, courtesy of boy cat). My girl cat loves it so much that she sits by the cabinet where it's stored and stares at me until I get up and play.
If you bought one of these and your cat wasn't interested, give it another try. My cats' favorite motion is when I wiggle it along the ground like a snake, particularly if I'm running and they're chasing (good exercise for me, too!).

I've been trying to find fun toys that will keep their interest - especially as one has gained a lot of weight in recent years due to inactivity (mostly my fault). They both loved this one and the cat dancer (it really does look like a butterfly when you let it bounce on the metal wire naturally). The soft colorful material and very long string on this cat charmer is great fun for them and I can "throw" it far and stay lazy myself! :) They also like the squirrel, carot and 20 mice. Their moods seem better after we play a little, and I'm hopeful the one will lose the 5 lbs he's gain. I think we're on the right track! :) I just also bought a second one of these since they both want to play at the same time and one gets submissive and just watches. I try to play with one as the other is sleeping but it doesn't always work! If you have more than one cat I'd recommend getting two! :)

Our kitty loves this toy. If we are not holding it and having her jump and pounce on it she will often go find it and drag it over to us so we pick it up and play with her (yes we are well trained by our kitty.)
If we won't play with her or she is alone she loves to drag the fabric strip over to any pair of shoes left out on the floor and entertain herself by tangling it up in the shoes and then pouncing on it.

I purchased this on-line along with the Cat Dancer. My cat is not really wild about this toy. He will play with it for about two minutes with me but he would rather us be playing with his Cat Dancer.

I bought this because it was reviewed so highly but my cat didn't like it at all. She examined it, poked at it, laid on it but refused to play with it. When I picked it up and tried to coax her she ran.
To be fair she is a timid kitty from a shelter-I think she was abused so the rod the charmer is attatched to may scare her.
