Love it! July 7, 2008 I just have to say I love this product. I tried a different version of a scoop free litter box, and hated it. The one with the tent like hood. That one the cats were constantly peeing over the side and stuff would get stuck in the rake, and the receptacle was not a good shape for the clumps of litter, so not as much fit as should and stuff would either not go in at all or expand over the side and smush...gross.
THIS box on the other hand, I LOVE the crystal litter. The least amount of smell EVER. A ton of waste fits into the "receptacle" end of the box. I have 3 cats. I only change the box maybe 3.5 to 4 weeks. I'm not sure what people are feeding their cats if they have to change it after only 3 days. I can assure you on a good diet this thing lasts a lot longer than that.
I love the cardboard box for the litter. I love being able to just put a lid on it and throw the whole thing away. No leaking, no tearing, no bag to try to manipulate, no poorly made plastic receptacle spilling stuff everywhere or me trying to shove a lid down on"clumps". It's easy, it's made taking care of the cats nearly painless.
I don't think I'd go for the permanent tray as I love being able to throw the whole thing away. I don't want to have to wash a tray. I have no litter smell in the house at all, you can't even tell we have cats. Well, except for the cat hair everywhere which is another story.
You'll go broke buying litter June 10, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this litter box for my two kittens. I am glad I bought it at a retail store, because I took it back 3 days later. The receptacle is much too small and fills up within a couple of days -- I don't know who can afford to spend $16 every three days to change the litter, but I sure can't.
By far the best of the automatic litter boxes May 28, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have two cats, one is about 14 lbs. the other 10 lbs. and they use the box frequently. I have tried just about every automatic litter box out there and have had this brand for almost 2 years whereas the others bit the dust between 6 mos. to a year. This is the best of them...it rarely gets jammed, maybe 2x since I've had it and once was my fault for not making sure the magnetic lid caught after I changed the cartridge. And, unlike all of the other ones the rake never gets waste stuck on it, ugh! We did get a second box last year because with 2 cats, one finicky, the wait time was too long between uses. Now they have come out with a new Ultra version where you can adjust the time between cleanings. Unfortunately, they do not sell just the box itself & I already have the hood. I hope they eventually sell just the Ultimate box so that previous customers don't have to end up with duplicate items. Yes, this is a more expensive system due to the expense of the cartridges but I buy them on sale at PetSmart by the case (6) & take advantage of their free shipping. The cartridges are now wrapped individually which is great because in the store the stock clerks were throwing them around and sometimes crushing them which makes them useless. Even with 2 boxes I still have to change them every 2 weeks, but with 1 box it was every week for two cats! Still, it's the most hands off unit out there and that's why we buy the automatic boxes right? The only suggestion I can think of for improvement would be to make the cartridges deeper, my cats really prefer some depth. I would have given it 5 stars for ease of use but because of the expensive cartridges I gave it 4 stars. Try it, you'll see it's the best system out there.
Best Litter Box I've Ever Had!! May 5, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I had another automatic litter box for a long time, which I liked. The only thing I didn't like, was emptying it every few days. (I also hated the large tent-type cover made for it). I think this one is even attractive, with the blue cover & always clean-looking blue litter.
The first filling of this box lasted just over 3 weeks before I noticed any smell at all. I never even "stirred" the litter - ever! The bottom never leaked - I smelled the bottom when I changed it and there was no odor at all. Emptying it was not terrible (the easiest I of any litter box I've ever had). I am so happy I bought it!
Life Saver May 2, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Thank you Scoop Free, this litter box has saved my cat's life. My cat decided not to use her old litter box and found it more convenient to use the the carpet next to the fireplace. And, believe me my husband was not happy....Well, I purchased the Ultra Litter Box and confined her to the laundry room for a week and my problem has been solved! She loves it and no more accidents. THANK YOU AGAIN!
