Needs Some Tweaking - But Fun Treat Toy Nonetheless August 1, 2008 We have a 9 month old Australian Shepherd Lab mix that loves to chew (AKA destroy). So, I went on Amazon grabbed 3 toys; the Premier Busy Buddy Bouncy Bone (medium), the Premier Busy Buddy Tug-a-Jug (Small) and Jolly Pet 4.5" Vanilla Scented Jolly Critter Squirrel. If I could my favorites in order, it would be the Jolly Critter Suirrel, then the Busy Buddy Bouncy Bone, and lastly the Tug-A-Jug.
There is little 'playability' for the Bouncy Bone. It is a very hard (durable) plastic that is not fun to throw in the house because of the worry of breaking something valuable. It is not soft at all (not like the Kong material). My dog wouldn't bring it back anyway because she just likes chewing the gnawhide off of it.
The gnawhide is smelly (what dog treat isn't though?). We couldn't figure out why the house smelled so bad until I realized it was the gnawhide.
My pup will chew the gnawhide off until there is a small circle left in the center. This leads to wasted product. However, I do give the small circles for our anti-toy sheltie to eat while I restock the bone w/ new gnawhide for the puppy.
As someone else stated, the gnawhide is gone within 10-15 minutes with my pup. So, even though I bought replacements with my order, we are going through them fast. We just got this toy on July 22, 2008! LOL
Good concept, poor quality gnaw hide April 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good concept in terms of a rubber toy with refillable ringed gnaw treats but the treats get ripped out FAST! too easy an access for the dogs. Mine ate the first two treats within an hour & the last few within the hours of my refilling it. If you want them to be amused for a while, better to get a Kong. If you just want a skeleton of a plastic bone for them to lose interest in, than this is your toy. It's too hard for him to wrap his mouth around as a gnawing toy so without the treats, its just no longer fun for him.
Good quality plastic... but overall bad toy for the purpose its trying to fulfill (the purpose being to have the dog leave you alone for a while)
It is fun for a short while April 23, 2008 My dog enjoyed it but I don't like that fully half of the "rawhide" are just cornstarch or something, not real rawhide. He also demolished the disks in 5 minutes or so. He was still playing with it after the disks were gone though, so it was fine, but I wouldn't buy another.
Great Toy April 17, 2008 Both my Shepherd mix and my Border Collie mix love this toy with or without the treats on the ends. It's durable and stands up to both the power chewing and the tug-of-war games they play with it.
Awesome for our AmStaff!!! January 4, 2008 This is the only toy our American Staffordshire Terrier can't destroy, and he worked on it!!! I bought three and put two away for later!
