Doesn't hold up well. May 12, 2008 This isn't a terrible frisbee--it flies well (even damaged), and it seems pretty tough at first. But if you have a dog that chews on the frisbee between throws, it won't hold up. This lasted my dog about a week of playing once a day (I put the frisbee away when not playing so she can't chew it up). That's better than the last one I got (Dogobie) which lasted 2-3 days before it was trashed. I really wanted to like this one, oh well.
Great dog toy/frisbee! April 7, 2008 LOVE this frisbee! My Irish Setter loves to chase frisbees but also chews them on returning ... the "regular" frisbees have lasted no more than two play sessions, (I would have had to buy over 100 frisbees during the time this one has lasted had the dog trainer not encouraged me to try the Kong Frisbee)! This one has lasted a solid 9 months and while it shows wear and tear, it still flies. As other reviewers have pointed out, the frisbee is heavier than others, but I adapted to throw it and it works great for us! (I'm a relative novice when it comes to frisbee throwing but I do fine!) My dog gets tired out chasing AND catching the frisbee and he has a VERY difficult time destroying it so all is GREAT! After 9 months of constant use (I've gotten lazy and the frisbee gets left out frequently at the end of play sessions for the dog to gnaw on ...), it is finally time to replace. The edges are tattered and the plastic ring is starting to come through the rim ... BUT it still flies and my dog still catches it! This was by far the best purchase as far as dog toys go! It has held my dog's interest, has withstood many good gnaw sessions and has far exceeded my expectations. I recommend without hesitation!
not recommended for large dogs February 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My dog chewed this item up within the first houw of playing with it. I was hoping it would last longer.
Long and accurate flying February 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Both of my Border Collie and my Scottie loved this toy. It has great flying performance, and it's very ressistant. Although this is a "Playing" toy, not a "Chewing" one, it's very ressistant but soft and flexible
Great disc - depending on your dog November 18, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My dog, a Samoyed, really loves to chase discs and then bring them back. However, in the process he loves to chew. If we get at typical plastic Frisbee, he will destroy it within 2 to 4 20 minute sessions. The plastic ones have even then cut his tongue with their edges.
So, if you dog loves to chew, I highly recommend the Kong toy - they last for many weeks of tough play with our dog.
A couple of other notes: 1. It is a lot harder to throw and catch because it is heavier than cloth or plastic discs 2. Don't let it become a chew toy when you are not throwing it. In that case it will not last. I only let my dog munch on it while he is bringing it back to me.
