 My dog loves his door! June 4, 2008

My 3 year old dog had to be trained to use this door. It only took a few days. Now, he can run in and out when he pleases. This certainly was money well spent. However, the insulation that comes with this product is terrible. If you purchase this door, you will need to purchase additional product to properly insulate.

This pet door for slider is sturdy and well made. The adjustable height mechanism worked well. The installation process was pretty easy. The inclusion of the rubber sweeper and weather stripping helped maintain a pretty good air seal. Our dog and cat both use it and best of all I don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to animals asking to go out!

Installation was pretty simple, and the door is functional. But you lose the width of the dog door from your patio door, and you also lose the air seal at the middle frames of your patio door. The black rubber weather strip that they send along to act as the new seal between your two patio panels is ridiculous - it is supposed to 'stick' to the sliding panel and 'brush' against the stationary panel but it just falls off after a day or two. The glass panel and flap of the dog door is thin and so allows a lot of cold air in during cold days. DO NOT BUY IF YOU LIVE WHERE IT GETS REALLY COLD!
