Product Description The Aqua Clear Powerhead 901 delivers outstanding performance in a variety of applications. The Powerhead 901 generates powerful water circulation to ensure highly effective filtration when attached to undergravel filters in large aquariums. Powerhead 901 delivers outstanding circulation and aeration performance in large marine fish, marine reef, and big freshwater aquariums containing larger species.Powerhead 901's robust construction, powerful output and convenient features also make it an ideal choice for pumping water from wetdry filter systems and sumps. It is also the preferred unit for driving venturi-type protein skimmers that require a powerful water input. The sealed, completely submersible, and energy-efficient motor unit is insulated with highly effective epoxy resin to eliminate maintenance and to insulate against harsh fresh and saltwater environments. The Venturi Aeration feature includes an air control valve and 20" of aeration tubing. The protective strainer basket prevents smaller fish and invertebrate life from entering the impeller chamber. The convenient Click-Fit connector enables fast and easy connection to flexible hoses. A rotating stem adapter facilitates connection to undergravel filter systems.A solid aquarium mounting pump base with four suction cups allows the option of installing the Powerhead horizontally to function in a sump or wetdry system. An effectively-designed attachment bracket allows vertical installations.Size:7" long (8" long with strainer) x 4 12" wide x 7 14" high

Works great except it kills your fish. May 13, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are durable powerheads that certanly cycle water quite efficiently. They are not noisy, and I only have one complaint (albeit a major one). If you are using live rock as an alternative to an undergravel filter you will probably have fish die because of this powerhead. The cone on the power head provides alot of suction and is the perfect size for a curious fish to fit into. My blemmy was apparently interested in the suction and stuck his head in; once their head is in the cone they have virtually no chance of swimming backwards fast enough to survive. The result is that the rest of their body will be slowly sucked in and compacted inside the cone. I'm sure you are thinking "why don't you just remove the cone", I did. I thought this would alleviate any problems with dead livestock; It didn't. The next thing I know is one of my "turbo snails" was stuck to the now flat screen on the bottom of the powerhead. There are NO sponge attachments that fit this powerhead, I have looked everywhere (manufacturers website, local stores, etc.). This problem seems to be addressed on the intake of virtually every other powerhead on the market. I have no idea why this was overlooked in this design. I am now stuck with 2 powerheads that cost around $130 total. I am going to try to rig a sponge to the bottom of the powerhead with some rubberbands as a last resort.
