Amazon.com Review Designed to fit around LitterMaid's self-cleaning litter boxes (or any litter box), this roomy tent provides tabby with privacy and can be set up as a den for play and sleep even without a litter box inside. It's made of waterproof vinyl and can be wiped out with a damp cloth or washed in warm, soapy water. Used around a litter box, the six-sided tent confines litter to the box and keeps it from being scattered around. It unzips all the way around to provide easy access for a litter box to be refilled or cleaned. The tent measures 29 inches long, 18-1/2 inches wide, and 16-3/4 inches high and assembles easily without tools (instructions included). --Fred Brack

Not waterproof September 6, 2008 Oh, I was so sad when this didn't work! It seemed like the answer to my problem. I have a cat that marks his litterbox. so, I bought the tent hoping that even if he sprayed, it would be contained.
For the first two weeks, everything was great. But when I moved the tent to clean the floor, I saw that the urine had seeped through the tent's bottom and stained my hardwood floor.
I still haven't gotten the smell completely out of the floor, and on top of that, the floor laminate is ruined.
You would think paying a lot gets you a lot... nope August 8, 2008 First off, the concept is great. Honestly, this is great for the cats and containing the litter fling. Now the reality:
1) Is this really manufactured by Littermaid as well? I know it is, but can someone not take accurate measurements? Assembling the plastic rods was annoying enough, but for the joint connectors to be so dang brittle they snap? That was the first call to them asking for a free replacement.
2) We have the Littermaid Mega Elite pooper scooper. The dang thing doesn't fit in the tent. The cartridge box hangs about half way out. Hello? Does Littermaid not design these for their own product? Also, this was designed so poorly to move the box in and out of the tent. You eventually have to do a cleaning of the entire contraption, and they sure don't make it easy.
3)That little flap on the bottom of the entry is utterly useless... and zipping the tent back up is like trying to put on a pair of jeans three sizes too small just after you at at a buffet for 3 hours: Utterly impossible. I had to literally take the tent apart and take a quarter of an inch off of each rod to assemble it in a fashion that I didn't think the tension was going to implode the tent on my poor cats.
3) The little window flap for the box switch and electrical: Why is it on the left? This is annoying. I need it on the right wall. This is just not convenient. If anything this flap should be on the back of the tent.
Recommendations:
If you buy this thing, take about a quarter of an inch off of each rod BEFORE you attempt to assemble it. If you don't, you'll drive yourself nuts trying to zip the dang thing up and about the point where the zipper fails on you the first time, you'll snap one of those joints.
I modified the tent: I put a piece of wood in the bottom of the tent to allow for easier sliding of the box in and out. I snipped the little lip off to accommodate this.
I also attached a vent in the upper right of the tent at the back wall with a exhaust fan of sorts to draw the kitty smell away and out. I have three little computer fans and a plastic flexible dryer vent that links to a port and draws the smell out a vent like a dryer. Yeah, I'm in it for the long haul but you appreciate this when the windows aren't open and the house is stuffy.
Lastly, if Littermaid really cared, they would pick up on this by now. They haven't and we still buy the darn thing since it is the only one. All I can say is, if it breaks, call 'em up and tell 'em to replace it. Don't throw away the Customer Service paper that's in the box.
It's huge!!! July 22, 2008 The tent is incredibly big, I own a fairly small litter tray for my kitty, and well, it ocupies about a third of the tent itself. It makes a fairly good job at keeping odors under control and keeping sand contained. Depending on your cat's sloppyness you'll have to clean it about once every week.
It has a very tall top, and putting it together is rather tough, you have to pull tightly for the top cover to fit with the zipper at the bottom cover. Besides that, it is worth the money and the wait.
Does not fit Mega Elite July 18, 2008 I recently purchased a MEGA Elite Littermaid litter box with the Litterworks stand. I bought this tent thinking the tent would fit, but, alas, it did not. I own two other Littermaid boxes and have this tent on them. The newer one required some shortening of the tubes that make up the frame so the top and bottom would zip together properly. I do LIKE this tent when it is modified and used for the smaller Littermaid boxes.
Cat Toilette - Saving your home from feline spraying June 25, 2008 This product, when assembled well, is great for the messy cat in your life. It contains litter, urine spray, feces, litter and odor effortlessly. I have purchased two of these tents and learned the hard way that it needs to be carefully assembled. My first tent, despite one broken rod, lasted many years and I threw out versus cleaning it again. For those who have had assembly issues, I can offer the following suggestions: a)carefully assembly rod frame applying pressure on both sides of the connector when sliding rods onto the connectors, if you apply pressure at the top of the rod instead of close to the connector, the rod will snap the connector off b)if you need to remove a connector from the rod, gently twist the rod back and forth on the rod until it loosens, otherwise the rod will snap the connector off c) after assembling the entire frame of the tent, test fit the vinyl tent without zipping it closed d)if the tent doesn't look as though it will zip, place the vinyl tent in the clothes dryer for a few minutes to soften the vinyl (allowing it to be stretched to fit the frame) remove quickly and place the softened vinyl tent around the frame and zip it closed.
