Replacing the existing cartridge is easy. Just slide the sanitary cartridge into the Scoop Free Automatic Litter Box and reattach the waste cover. The Scoop Free Replacement Litter Cartridge absorbs odor and moisture on contact, and after your cat leaves the litter box, the ultra-quiet Scoop Free automatically rakes the waste into a covered trap, leaving the litter bed smelling clean and fresh. The Scoop Free Replacement Litter Cartridge uses disposable litter tray cartridges filled with Fresh Step crystal litter, which stops odors significantly better than clay litter. Just change the disposable litter cartridge every 20 to 30 days (10 to 15 days for two cats) and toss the old cartridge away without seeing, touching, or smelling messy waste.

Great but the delivery August 6, 2008
Wrote a review for this earlier but great machine, works as advertised but the delivery method was horrendus. The litter was not secured so it went through the whole floor when opened and worse yet, the crystals went through the gears in the machine. We had to carefully dismantle the whole unit and clean the crystals from the gears and computer chip!!!

this product is a bit pricey, and of course they continue to stick you for the refill cartridges, but it is worth every penny! i have one cat, and i literally only look at the litterbox every few weeks to a month. there is NO odor, and combined with the hood and a littermat, it is remarkably self contained. i honestly never dreamed that any product of this sort could be this low maintenance. you have to keep buying the refills though because once the moisture works its way into the tray, it becomes much less effective if you try to reuse it. my grandma and a friend bought the product after i got mine and both are very pleased with it. without a doubt i would recommend this product to all cat owners!

I have 2 young cats and the litter needs to be changed much more frequently than advertised. However, for the first 10 days it works great.

With super-saver free shipping, this was a great deal for anyone who uses the Scoop Free system! I use it for my mom's cats as she has early Alzheimer's and is living in a retirement center. She was having trouble keeping their traditional cat box clean and could no longer smell the odor. The Scoop Free system works great except she still doesn't understand how things disappear although we've shown her how it works many times.

this product is great for our cat. it lasts about 3 weeks(would last longer, but she pees in the same spot) we love it
