Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Natural oils, including cod liver, borage, evening primrose and sunflower oils, as well as active enzymes in papaya extract, act to decrease hairball and help those that do form, to pass through cats system more freely. These oils also provide a source of vitamins A,D and K, antioxidants and essential fatty acids. In addition, this product contains tocopheroes and taurine. Taurine enhances normal, healthy functions of the eyes, heart and reproductive system. Chicken flavored.

5 out of 5 stars VETBASIS HAIRBALL REMEDY   April 29, 2008
Product seems to be working fast with my cats. It is all natural so it is safe. One of my cats is long-haired, and he does not cough up fur balls, but, rather, passes them. This product makes it easier; so we are both happy! Paid a good price through KV Pet Supply in NE, too.

5 out of 5 stars Hairball Medicine works!   April 14, 2008
We have found the Vetbasis Hairball Remedy - Chicken Flavor to be the only one of its type that our cat Buster will eat.... and it seems to help him greatly with the hairball situation. He is a very large, long haired cat and this product seems to work. We mix about 2.5 inches of it into his food every morning. Buster is happy and we are happy.

5 out of 5 stars Cat loves it, better for her, too   October 7, 2007

I wanted something that didn't have petroleum in it (I can't believe that petroleum products don't cause more harm in our pets than good), and I was delighted to find several brands of hairball remedy made with natural oils and no petroleum. Of the three brands I've tried, my cat seems to like Vetbasis the most, although this isn't saying much, since she'll readily lick up all three. I hesitate to give it to her with a meal, as the point of hairball remedies is to speed the hairballs through the digestive tract. Since the gel can't distinguish between hairballs and food, you don't want to speed food through, too, as this might prevent the cat from absorbing all the nutrients she needs from it before it's expelled from the body. Therefore, I give the gel to her once a day, well before any meals. I squirt a little in her food dish and sometimes I toss in a little cat treat with it, and she licks it up readily. She loves both the salmon and the chicken flavor, and she has gotten to look forward to her "slime" so much that she vociferously demands it every morning. I highly recommend this product.

4 out of 5 stars Great for Diabetic Cats! Easy to use.   October 30, 2006
My diabetic cat was having hairballs quite frequently (along with bouts of constipation because of them) and this is the only remedy I found that was sugar-free and acceptable for diabetic cats. It mixes into the food or they can lick it off a plate or your finger. It should remain refrigerated, otherwise it may separate and get greasy. It's fish flavored, and even my finicky cat liked it. We used it daily for about 4 days then once or twice a week afterward. Worked for us!

3 out of 5 stars Works OK, mixes with food easier   May 17, 2006

My cat doesn't like the taste of this, but she doesn't like any of the other hairball gels I've tried either (salmon, tuna, malt flavor, various brands). Unlike other brands I've tried, it is supposed to be used daily. However, it mixes into food better than most brands, perhaps because it's canola oil based rather than petroleum based. And my cat will eat it when it's stirred into a teaspoon of tuna. (Believe it or not, she can lick around the petroleum based gels and leave them on the plate while eating the tuna--but she can't do it with the Vetbasis one.)
