 A somewhat self cleaning box thats makes cleaning easy September 8, 2008
This product is not totally self cleaning, for it needs you to roll it. However it sure beats cleaning the box out by scoop and hand. It cuts my cleaning of a cat box down in half the time or less. I liked the box the first time I went to clean it out. No more lugging around a heavy cat box (I dont clean the box everyday maybe every 2 days or so don't like my cats getting use to a super clean cat box makes them fussy), hand scooping and searching for litter box surprizes. I read the comments on amazon about the box and thought I would try the self cleaning litter box, bought the large box. It is quite large but for what it does that does not become an issue for me. I also read comments about using the Worlds Best Cat Litter and decided to use this litter when I got the new litter box. I like that too, I never knew just how heavy that clay clumping litter got till i started using the corn litter. And I have to say I won't go back to using clay litter no more. As for the box well, I showed the box to my parents and they went out and bought one too. Now I just showed to box to the rest of the cat lovers in my family they thought it was a nice concept and are looking into it also.

I really liked this litterbox to start with, but then litter started getting into the seam between the lid and the bottom and making a mess of the floor. Alright, you expect that in a room with a litterbox, but not necessarily from the box itself. I imagine the weight (if it's as full as it needs to be work properly) is a bit heavy for some people to roll.
In case you're not sure how it works, roll the entire box onto its lid, or rather to about one corner of the lid, shake it to move the clean litter through the filter into a catch-place, make sure all the litter's either in there or tipped into the long scoop, then roll the box back upright, shaking it to get the good litter back into the main compartment. Pull out the scoop and discard the bad litter.
If the litter is too low, the bad litter sticks to the bottom/sides; if the litter is too high, the cats kick everything out the door, and it's darn heavy to roll. Our 3 cats will use this over the other large hooded one. It can be a pain sometimes because they overfill this one and the other one sometimes isn't touched, and I rather think scooping is less work than rolling this one. The jury's still out for me, as I liked it at first.

I was definitely skeptical to buy this. It sounded too good to be true, but if there is a product that claims emptying a litter box easier, I'll try it.
Easy to assemble, and even easier to clean. This is a great buy. I have a household with six cats (yes, 6) and this has been a wonderful addition to my home. No more scooping and dumping into plastic bags, only to have litter leak out.
The only small mistake one can make, is not having the reservoir pushed in all the way. When you roll over the box, litter spills out of it. Just make sure it's pushed in all the way before you roll, and enjoy never having to crouch down and scoop poo for 5 minutes again!
So far, I have recommended this box to 3 people who have all since bought it and loved it.
Wonderful Litterbox September 2, 2008
This is the best litterbox we have had for our kitty. It is so easy to clean, not messy, and great in combination with a litter locker.
Not sure it would be good with multiple cats, due to the size of it...but for one it is PURRFECT!

I've had my large-size Omega Paw for about three weeks now and it's being shared by three cats. The Omega Paw is not exactly the miracle I was hoping for and it actually takes me longer to clean out the litter right now than it did before with a sifting-tray box (the reasons for this will become clear). However, I definitely stay cleaner and the job is more pleasant in many senses.
I'm also pretty well convinced that some of the troubles I've been having with the box are litter-specific. I've used Arm and Hammer clumping litter with my cats for years in normal litterboxes, and it has always worked decently there for a relatively inexpensive mass-market litter. However, I don't think this litter works very well in the Omega Paw. Wet clumps are exceedingly sticky and can quickly reach mud consistency since my cats are very, uh, predictably localized in their box use. You can't even beat this stuff off the floor of the Omega Paw when it's upside down-- it has to be scraped off.
The A&H litter also is too slow to pour through the sift grate, which means that turning the box slowly is not sufficient; I have to sort of hold and shake / rock the OP on its side while watching the litter flow through. Otherwise, if I don't do this, I end up with a lot of wasted clean litter in the tray and it's a really annoying process to re-sift it out.
I still have about 50 more pounds of the A&H to burn through and will start giving other clumping clay litters a shot after that. Hopefully I will find a readily available clay litter that still clumps well but dries out much faster than the A&H.
My two complaints that are possibly not litter-specific: The tray area has a couple design flaws. There's an open space at the back of the tray hold, where the tray tapers up, where medium-size clumps can (and frequently do) get trapped outside the tray and subsequently get re-dumped into the otherwise clean litter on the return trip. I don't know why Omega Paw didn't put a hard "tray stop" in this area to prevent this from happening-- I will probably add one myself at some point.
The other complaint is that clumps aligned just so and exceeding the height of the tray can get "shaved off" when you're pulling it out-- this is really pretty gross and requires a second rolling or a manual intervention when it happens. But again, maybe a less muddy litter than the A&H would improve this situation somewhat.
I have had no problems with litter leaking around the tray clips that some have cited here - I think that's a matter of having them attached correctly. And I will say that with the Omega Paw, we are definitely going through less litter than we were before (although I wouldn't consider the savings miraculous... maybe a 25-30% reduction in consumption?) and the box is getting cleaned more often, so everybody's happier at the moment. The box's concept is also pretty ingenious when you really get to see it in action. I just hope I can shortly find a clay litter that truly gets the easy-peasy performance advertised out of the Omega Paw.
