The best shampoo for dogs with skin allergies December 30, 2005
My dog has severe skin allergies, she licks her paws until they bleed and her skin turns so red you can see it through her fur. My groomer always gave her a medicated bath and when I would get her back the red would be gone and the licking would stop. This would last for a couple of weeks. I asked my groomer what shampoo she used and if I could buy it and use it at home. She sold me a bottle of Medi-Tar and explained to me how to use it. My groomer retired and I had to take my dog to a new groomer who uses a different medicated shampoo and it does not work nearly as well. When I pick her up you can still see her red skin through the fur and she still licks and scratches when I bring her home, though not as bad as before the bath. I now take my bottle of Medi-Tar to my new groomers because it works so well.
