With so many other hassles to worry about, a gate should be worry-free and easy. Using the simplicity-by-design approach, the Evenflo SimpleStep pressure gate makes cordoning off stairways and rooms easy as cake. The pressure-mounted gate takes 20 minutes to install with no tools needed and is much easier than its wall-anchored counterparts. Once you install the gate, the most difficult part is over. The walk through door employs a squeeze, slide, and swing action that can be done with one hand. The red/green gate indicator tells you when the gate is properly locked. Be sure to measure your doorways before purchasing--the Evenflo gate is made for either 29-inch or 39.5-inch (with the included extension panel) openings, and the pressure mounts give you a tiny bit of slack. The Evenflo SimpleStep pressure gate is 30.5 inches in height, and the manufacturer recommended age use for children is six months to two years. --Scott Teal

A much better locking system July 7, 2008 This was our second gate for our son. The first one was similar but had a lever locking system. My son in a month could figure out how to open the lock. This locking device is much better as it requires two fingers and a slide mechanism. In short my son needs to grow up atleast 4-5 years to open this gate :). He is 16 months now. This gate is very easy to install as well.
poor product June 30, 2008 I PURCHASED ON OF THESE GATE TO SECTION OFF A ROOM FOR MY PUPPY. THESE GATES DO NOT STAY ADJUSTED. IF YOU DO GET THEM TO STAY THE GATE WON'T OPEN. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE. REGRETING MY PURCHASE,J. WAY
Does it's Job June 28, 2008 This gate has taken a beating from my just walking 1 year old, to my "loco" 6 year old (both boys) the slider gets a tad stuck after so much going through it while it's closed, but I love that it's metal and the way the gate is attatched if one of the kids is close to the door u can't pinch their fingers. I love it!
Good Deal June 26, 2008 I just received this gate yesterday to contain my miniature schnauser. No problem installing and no problem opening gate with one hand.
Works, I've had better June 13, 2008 I bought this to replace a wooden swing gate, I liked but needed to replace due to the wood warping. It works, but is more difficult to open and close, I usually need 2 hands to operate it, and don't always have 2 available. I would like it better if the gate swung close on its own, and had an easier latch system.
