Editorial Reviews: Product Description The new Cat Mate Elite Selective Cat Door and Super Selective Cat Doors are a great advance over the electronic pet doors already manufactured by this company. The collar keys are RFID chips--the latest thing in collar key technology. Both come with two such collar keys. The company refers to these as "electronic ID disc". The Elite Selective can support up to a total of 7 of these keys. The Super Elite can accommodate a total of 8. Extra keys may be purchased. Both of these doors, of course, are designed to let your cats in and keep other critters out. This is accomplished by using a lock that inserts up the middle of the flap. Thus the flap can't be pushed in or pulled out. The company claims that this feature makes both versions raccoon proof--a very important consideration for some people. Both versions also include a 4-way locking device. And both are "self-framing" out to 2". The #308 extension units may be added to allow installation in walls to any thickness. Customer Reviews: Stay far away from this product   May 19, 2008 Unless your cat is the size of a Lynx this door does not work. The tag must be about 1"-1.5" from the bottom lip of the door to work. If the cat's nose is at the level of the bottom lip of the door the door will not activate. We called the Texas distributor of this product and were told " that is how it works" This distributor seems to be a warehouse with no customer service. I contacted the factory in England by Fax and have not received a reply one week later. Thankfully we purchased the product through a reputable distributor who will refund our money, but there is no way to heal the hole in the door. Nice idea just does not work.
