I put one under a window and the other on chair, the cats have been rotating themselves. I personally wouldn't want to sleep on something with that material but the cats like rubbing on the pads. The care instructions were difficult to find, they aren't on the box or on amazon. But I did finally find it on Foster&Smith.com. Vacuum and hand wash, no real surprise there.
