The X-Mat really solved our problem--my daughter's cat had a habit of jumping on my kitchen table--not any more since we purchased the X-Mat. I would never buy anything that hurt an animal--the "curious cat" saw it, and just put a paw on it -just a touch-and that was it!!!!!!!

Two of my dogs will stay off the couch when I put them on, and the other just pushed them down.. When on the floor, all the dogs walk on them.. But my cats it is great for, if you put them on furniture or a chair which is their exact size they will not lay there and make the chairs all hairy!! I like its flexibility too, the folding one is stiff and easier for them to remove from the couch and push around..

This is a very simple and effective solution. Just set it down, and the cats stay away.
One of our cats had a horrible habit of scratching on the front door in the middle of the night. We use Soft Paws, so she did't do any damage to the door or the paint, but the sound was loud enough to wake us up. We were so desperate that we started putting chairs in front of the door before going to bed. Eventually, we realized we needed to drape a blanket across the back of the chairs so that she couldn't scrtatch from underneath. Then we started putting pillows in the seats so she couldn't reach above the chair backs. The point of all this, in case you're wondering, is that this cat was very persistant.
Then a veterinarian friend told us about the X-Mat. Now instead of creating an elaborate blocade in front of the doors each night, we just put two X-Mats down side by side. They span the width of the door, and our cat stays away. We've been sleeping through the night ever since.
If we have one complaint, it's that the X-Mat sticks up too high to stay in place when we open the door. But moving the mats each night is a lot easier than any other solution we've found.

This product has saved my furniture. I have 3 cats, one in which is a "problem" cat. The mats have kept her off the furniture for months now. My only complaint is that there isnt a larger size. We had to use 3 on one large chair in order to cover the arms as well. Otherwise I would have given the product 5 stars.

This mat reminds me of those office mats you put under your office chair. One side is smooth and the other is spikey. You place it on your sofa/chair with the spikes up.
My pug, loves to snuggle up on my brand new rocking chair. Since I did not want to use a ScatMat (seems too cruel) and I could not find a similar product small enough for a chair, I purchased the X-Mat. I put the X-Mat on the chair and gently placed the pug's paws on it while saying no (I only had to do this once) and it's worked miracles. She has not jumped up once. She will pull herself up on the edge and look at the chair but will not jump on it. It's such a simple, cheap item, I love it. Very easy to remove when I want to sit. It hasn't happened to me yet, but remember to remove the X-Mat when you want to use the chair. It's pretty spikey.
