4 out of 5 stars Good for tough chewers, but not for lengthy entertainment   September 17, 2008
My dog is Shiba Inu/Mini Schnauzer mix. I'll tell you what, this dog CHEWS. Toys made for large-breed heavy chewing dogs do not stand a chance against this little guy. He also has the attention span of a doorknob, so he has many many toys which we rotate through to keep him entertained.

This toy in particular has stood up rather well. There are tiny little dents on the ends but it's not falling apart. However, without the rawhide treats, my dog won't touch it. He doesn't even bring it to me to play fetch (granted, he prefers squeaky toys for fetch games.) The toy may be a little heavy for carrying around via puppy or small dog mouth.

I would recommend this toy to dogs who like the treat-dispensing toys and are prone to heavy chewing, but the fun value is otherwise pretty low. It's good to leave out while at work to give the poor mutt something to work at, but it will not entertain any mammal for extended periods of time.

5 out of 5 stars great for chewers   August 22, 2008
My dogs love these! I bought a large one for my chocolate lab and a medium one for my smaller mixed breed. They both prefer the large bone. Both dogs love the rawhide treats. My lab can get the treats off the bone now in about five minutes or less now, so if you are looking for something to keep your dogs occupied for long periods of time I wouldn't go for this. However, as most people know labs are super smart so your dog might take longer to figure out how to get the rawhides off. It takes my smaller dog about 10-15 minutes to devour her treats.

2 out of 5 stars Chi's ignore the toy   August 4, 2008

My Chi puppies ignore this toy and the smooth rawhide that comes with it BUT they love the rough rawhide. I give them the rings and they go crazy tossing it, chewing it and chasing each other for it.

4 out of 5 stars Needs Some Tweaking - But Fun Treat Toy Nonetheless   August 1, 2008
We have a 9 month old Australian Shepherd Lab mix that loves to chew (AKA destroy). So, I went on Amazon grabbed 3 toys; the Premier Busy Buddy Bouncy Bone (medium), the Premier Busy Buddy Tug-a-Jug (Small) and Jolly Pet 4.5" Vanilla Scented Jolly Critter Squirrel. If I could my favorites in order, it would be the Jolly Critter Suirrel, then the Busy Buddy Bouncy Bone, and lastly the Tug-A-Jug.

There is little 'playability' for the Bouncy Bone. It is a very hard (durable) plastic that is not fun to throw in the house because of the worry of breaking something valuable. It is not soft at all (not like the Kong material). My dog wouldn't bring it back anyway because she just likes chewing the gnawhide off of it.

The gnawhide is smelly (what dog treat isn't though?). We couldn't figure out why the house smelled so bad until I realized it was the gnawhide.

My pup will chew the gnawhide off until there is a small circle left in the center. This leads to wasted product. However, I do give the small circles for our anti-toy sheltie to eat while I restock the bone w/ new gnawhide for the puppy.

As someone else stated, the gnawhide is gone within 10-15 minutes with my pup. So, even though I bought replacements with my order, we are going through them fast. We just got this toy on July 22, 2008! LOL

5 out of 5 stars Loved by Puppy & 13 Year Old Dog Alike   July 24, 2008

Premier Busy Buddy Bouncy Bone, Small

We originally bought this item for our miniature shnauzer puppy. She loves it, but having the small attention span most puppies do, it is in her rotation of favorite toys. Our 13 year old cairn terrier, who has snubbed a lot of his old toys, also loves this, so we are getting him the medium size. This is a great item for those teething puppies who just want to chew, chew, chew.
