Good tool. May 15, 2008 The furminator works well. It is a good idea to comb your dog outside. The first time I used it on my long haired dog, I was surrounded by tons of hair. Most of the hair was from her dense undercoat. This tool works as advertised.
Works well May 14, 2008 Furminator works well, not sure its as good as the manufacturer would lead us to believe. I have a golden retriever that is starting to shed for the season. I have previously used a traditional undercoat rake. The furminator is approximately 20% better, but 250% more expensive. So...... to do it all over. I would probably stick with the undercoat rake and keep the dollars in my pocket.
One thing to say for Amazon though..... $30 less than my local bigbox pet store!!!!
Great Brush May 14, 2008 I had just adopted a German Shepherd. The rescue had just given him a bath and brush him. I got him home and after 45 minutes of brushing, my apartment floor was covered with piles of hair. I have tried many other types of brushes and this is by far the best. PS don't go to PetSmart to get one, they want $60+tax for the 4" one.
How did we ever do without it? May 14, 2008 This tool is a godsend for the owner of a dog with long hair. Our Golden, Maizie, just sighs out loud when we brush her with it and we get tons of hair with each brushing. I am a compulsive knitter and want to have her hair carded and spun into yarn. This is a great way to collect the hair...if there are other "knit knuts" out there.
My daughter's vet charges $35.00 for a "furminator" treatment. Why not buy the tool and do it yourself. A terrific investment.
Love my FURminator May 14, 2008 I love this...I have a lab 2 goldens and a chihuahua and I have used it on all of them and it works great. It cuts down on the shedding. I let a friend borrow it for her St. Bernard and it worked great on him too.
