Great for singles or couples, but not so great for families May 15, 2008 I loved the idea of a quick and easy way to make pasta sauce with no mess so I had to try Bertolli's Tomato and Basil Pasta Sauce. And its Bertolli's which is known for good quality pasta and pasta products.
For a single person, or a couple, this is a great concept. Snip the corner, pop it in the microwave for 90 seconds and it's ready to eat. For a family, I wouldn't recommend it, even in light of the ease with which it can be prepared. One packet is just enough for up to two servings, maybe three if you use it sparingly on your spaghetti. Any more than that it's not really worth it due to the cost and package size. It would be cheaper to just buy a jar, if not as fast.
The taste was great and the basil added flavor to the tomato sauce. It also tastes like it was made from fresh tomatoes rather than canned or precooked. The only complaint I had on flavor was that it's a little too acidic. I love tomatoes and I love pasta sauce just as much and normally the naturally occurring acid in the tomatoes doesn't bother me. However, for some reason, the acid is really noticeable in this sauce and it made my tongue burn and hurt from it.
I could see me using this product every once in a while if I'm in a real rush, but even as easy as it is, I'll probably stick to my usual jars of spaghetti sauce.

Convenient easy quick meal May 10, 2008 Sauce is really good. Can make a quick meal in less than 10 minutes depending on the type of pasta that is used. This was just enough for a family of 3 but might have to use a couple for larger families. Great idea.
Sun dried Tomatoes make a difference May 5, 2008 Wonderful taste, with the tang of sun-dried tomatoes, this sauce is thick and rich and the best part is it makes just enough for two people. I loved the convenience of microwave heating and if you want you can add some of your own ingredients. A new flavor to add to the regular spaghetti sauces already out there.
functional April 24, 2008 This packet is functional. It's just as easy to make as out of a can. I have no complaints nor any excessive praise. This will definitely work with that spaghetti or penne that you may be making.
not bad at all April 18, 2008 This sauce tastes relatively fresh and wholesome, not bad at all for a product designed to have a long shelf life. It's sweet, but not excessively so.
