5 out of 5 stars Well Designed, Excellent Company   June 7, 2008

I've owned this feeder for over two years now and with the exception of one mishap which broke the first feeder, it's working perfectly and I would recommend this feeder to anyone who's shopping for one.

With the first one, the timer was inadvertently set to put out so much food that it backed up into the auger and an internal pin broke. I contacted the company and they sent out a replacement one free of charge.

Otherwise, the feeder is well designed and thought through. The food hopper is sufficiently large to cover a month's worth of food, and the timer supports up to 8 or 9 separate meals a day, enabling the smaller continual portions which produces a healthier diet for your cat.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to use, but loud   May 15, 2008
I like how easy it was to assemble. It is not too bad to clean either! BUT is it loud. I have used automatic waterers before and never had one quite this loud!

2 out of 5 stars autopetoasis fountain   March 22, 2008
I purchase the small size, holds about 3 gallons of water. I dont find that the waterer bowl stays any cleaner than the petmate. The only advantage is not having to fill it up as often. The company states how quite this is, (well its not) even when working at full capacity. The filters cost about $13.00 for two then you have to add in the shipping to. I emailed company who makes this product with a question and they never answered me back. Save your money, its not worth paying $80.00 + dollars for.

4 out of 5 stars A good product (not to replace human care)   February 7, 2008

After a month of investigating automated pet feeding and watering devices for my pet cat, I finally selected this two gallon model by Ergo Systems. It was not an easy process, many of the consumer product reviews regarding the various available models seemed to be either plugs or diatribes. Clerks at local pet stores tried to be helpful, but none of the stores I visited carry these devices in stock so close inspection and particular model recommendations were unobtainable. The best they could offer were vendor recommendations based on reputation. I finally made my decision based on design specifications, vendor highlighted features, and the most discernibly objective reviews available.

The only criticism I have for this waterer is that it must be taken apart to be properly cleaned but the benefits of providing our cat with running, oxygenated water are worth the minor inconvenience. Disassembly/assembly can be completed by memory after initial assembly. It did take a day or so for our cat to become accustomed to the sound of the pump but this is to be expected, especially when imposing such a drastic change to the feeding and watering area.

Overall, I rate this product as good. The one part subject to wear and tear is the pump and having never owned an automated waterer before, I am still apprehensive of the failure rate of such a part. So far it has performed faithfuly.

4 out of 5 stars Good filtered water automatic pet waterer   November 6, 2007

The product works well for both cats and small dogs. It is a bit noisy and takes a short while for your pets to get used to the pump motor noise and the bubbling of the water tank noise. Does a good job of providing a constant flow of fresh filtered water. The only drawback is cleaning the bowl area. The whole unit must be unplugged and turned upside down after removing the water jug to rid the bowl of inevitable dirt and hair that finds its way into the drinking area as it sits on the floor. Overall, it's a good product, especially for cats with renal problems.
