 Not worth the price November 5, 2008
I give this box one star because it did reduce the usual litterbox smell significantly. We have three cats, so we change out the pan once/week. At $15+ for replacement pans, it's just not cost effective. We've now spent over $700 in the past several months for a self-cleaning litterbox that is already starting to wear out. The money would have been much better spent on a cat genie or litterbox robot. And holy cow, this thing is loud!
 Very Pleased with ScoopFree November 2, 2008
I have used the ScoopFree Litter Box for over one month now and I am very pleased with it. My cat did not have any problems with switching from her litter box to the ScoopFree. I was tired of constantly scooping the old litter box so the dog would not get in it and keeping it clean so the cat would use it. But this product has solved both of these problems for me. I did not want to spend the money to get a automatic litter box, but now I can say it was money well spent!! I am very pleased with my purchase.
 Good but pricey refills... October 27, 2008
I have a scoopfree litterbox. It works well but with 2 cats you are lucky if you can get more than a week out of the refill. Moving the crystals around manually once in a while helps to extend the life. I have even bought some extra crystals to add in to try and get 2 weeks out of the refill. At $16 a pop you are looking at $60 a month just to fill it. I thinking about going with a litter maid so I can just buy litter.

I've been using the ScoopFree box for my two cats for 3 weeks now. For the past 4 years, I have used 3 LitterMaid boxes -- the first one lasted about 2 years, then the two replacements each broke after about 6 months. The LitterMaids worked OK, but were messy to deal with and always in need of a cleaning. I read every review about the ScoopFree that I could find, then decided to give it a try. It's great. It is clean, odorless, and even looks nicer than the LitterMaid and takes up a little bit less space. My two cats have an auxiliary regular litterbox in another part of the house, but they both use the ScoopFree about 90% of the time and the first cartridge lasted 2 weeks without getting yucky.

Our vet told us, and by experience I know it's true, that you sometimes find out that your cat is having a health problem by knowing what's "in the box". I don't own this one, but just like the commercial for the Littermaid, the company here has given us music instead of showing exactly what it really sounds like. A cat being afraid of the litter box doesn't work as a couple of people have noted. Seems to work fine for some; not for everybody, I guess.
