It works! August 23, 2008 This item worked pretty well. My dog stopped barking very quickly. One must be careful because when I set it too high,my dog yelp. So make sure you use the settings gradually.
Call it what you want, this thing shocks the daylights outta your dog. August 22, 2008 Well, the vibration sensitivity makes this thing a little too iffy about when it shocks. I have had the older one too, and it was like strapping a pair of jumper cables to my dog. Which was fine. This vibrating false alarm thing is a double edged sword-it may prevent false "corrections" (aka-minor electrocutions!), but sometimes it doesnt go off when it should. I think it confused my dog more than anything else-he barks constantly anyways (never get a hound dog. Ever. Even if he's free.) but you can tell when the thing finally kicks in when the bark turns more to a long yelp.
I know the description says something like "static correction" or "deterrent". It's a shock collar, no matter what they wanna call it. If you put this on your dog, it will shock it.
The batteries last half as long in this as the older one.
The actual collar is junk. You spend 80 bucks for a shock collar, and when you get is the shock box (which is fine), screwed to a collar that would cost you about 2 dollars at a pet store. I redid it with a better collar.
Pleased with results immediately August 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We've owned this collar for the most barky of my three dogs for two years now, and I just ordered a second for my #2 dog about whom we recently received neighbor complaints. The collar has completely changed #1 dog's obsessive behavior with trucks and vans. She now only makes a low rumbling sound in her throat (while still running back and forth on the rock wall), instead of the incessant barking of the past. I replace the battery about twice a year. Perhaps the collar Rocky used was defective in some way? I hope s/he made a call to Petsafe before giving up; they have very helpful customer support. We've had their wireless fence system for 4 years now. The bark collar's fit needs to be right, and if the dog is still barking, perhaps the intensity needs to be moved to the next highest level. The medium level works fine for my obsessive barker. Bottom line - I'm really glad for this product, which allowed us to keep our dog, while knowing she won't get shocked by another dog's bark.
Worked great-- for 2 months. August 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Did everything I wanted it to for about two months, working better than similar products. Then the battery quit. Replaced the battery, then it quit working altogether. Despite this, I'm ordering another one and hoping it will last longer this time. At least I still have spare batteries left over from the last collar.
I think this is a great product that suffers from either poor quality control or design flaws.
The verdict is still out August 3, 2008 I'm having trouble getting this collar to stay in place, so I'm really not sure it will ultimately serve it's purpose. The company sent me a different style of collar to try, but every time the dog shakes his head, the contact points move out of place. The company said I need to make it tighter and to make sure I put it on when he is standing up...I've done both. I simply can't make the collar any tighter as it's already a struggle to snap it shut as it is. I'll give it a few more tries, but I have my doubts as to how useful it will be.
