Product Description The taste of fresh pineapple is only one step away with this easy slicer. Cores and slices in one easy corkscrew action to produce beautiful fresh pineapple rings. Also keeps the shell in one piece to use as a bowl for serving fresh fruit, desserts or perhaps tropical cocktails?
Amazon.com Review Fresh-cut pineapple is like a little taste of paradise--and if hacking up the whole spiky shebang weren't such a royal pain, we'd probably all eat a lot more of it. Vacu Vin's award-winning slicer takes the work and mess out of this tropical treat, peeling, coring, and slicing an entire pineapple in just 30 seconds. Equipped with a medium blade to fit most sizes of fruit, it works just like a corkscrew. Simply cut off the pineapple's top and twist the cutter into its interior to create perfectly shaped rings; turn once to create just a single slice, or several times to cut up the whole fruit at once. The shell is preserved intact to use for a dessert or drink bowl, providing the perfect presentation for dessert or drinks at your next luau. This durable plastic slicer also makes a great hostess gift, especially for a beach party or vacation home visit. --Mary Park

No more rotten pineapples! September 7, 2008 I am a sucker for buying pineapples at the grocery store, but when I get home, I often leave them on the counter until they are rotten because I don't ever get around to slicing them due to the work they make. The kids won't eat the little spikes that I usually leave on the pineapple pieces. SO, based on a recommendation, I purchased the VacuVin Pineapple slicer. It works so well. It feels deceptively cheap, but the hard plastic cuts through the pineapple like a champ! The directions are visual on the box. It cuts a spiral cut ring - like a big curly fry - and pulls out like a wine cork once the slicing is complete. The core of the pineapple is in the center of the contraption, and it pushes out easily with a stick. There wasn't a single spiky thing left on the pineapple. It made good use of most of the pineapple meat, and it was quick to clean. This is a fabulous addition to my kitchen gadget collection - one I will use frequently.
eeehhh... August 22, 2008 Perhaps it was me, perhaps it was my pineapples, but something wasn't working according to Hoyle. I had some difficulty getting it to go through the pineapple. (Yes, they were ripe!). Also, there was a lot of pineapple left in the pineapple shell for this frugal old gal, so that meant some tedious knife work to harvest the remainder. Finally, this device caused lots of wasted juice. Regretfully, my opinion, even though I am the minority, is to use a knife in the first place. I rate this pineapple slicer eeehhh...
Our luaus will never be the same! July 24, 2008 I bought this gadget to make pineapple cups for a recent luau my friends threw and it worked great. The pineapple shell held a large amount of fruity drink and also provided us with tons of wonderful, eye-free flesh. The only complaint is the handle can pop off if pulled too hard, so use a delicate touch and have fun!
LOVE IT!! April 29, 2008 This item is great! I love fresh pineapple, but not the time it takes to cut it up the conventional way. This made it sooo easy! It's crazy how simple it is. The first time I used it, I thought I was wasting the part closest to the rind, but upon further inspection I found that it was the hard part that would usually end up mixed in with my good pieces and make me mad. To the reviewer who said it made their pineapple mushy, I found that when that happened, I was pressing down too hard...easily remedied.
Slightly hard to use April 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although this item works I cannot see it working for a very long time. It is very hard to insert and turn and to pull out the pineapple takes some muscle. It comes in two pieces and the plastic handle top does not look like it will last long. I would try and find one that is more durable possibly made out of stainless steel.
