The Angelcare Movement Sensor has three modes of use, enabling parents to use the sensor/sound monitor well into toddlerhood and beyond, if desired. With the Sound & Movement function, you can hear your baby's sounds, see sound lights, and hear a "tic" sound with every movement the baby makes. If no movement is detected, the "tic" will stop and after 20 seconds the alarm will sound. In the Tic Off mode you will not hear the ticking sound with every movement. However, you will still hear the baby's sounds and see sound lights, and your baby's movement is still being detected. An alarm will still sound if absolutely no movement is detected for 20 seconds. And finally, with Sound Only, the movement sensor is disabled, but you will still be able to hear your baby's sounds and see sound lights. In this mode, the Angelcare functions as a regular sound monitor. For many parents, just being able to hear the sighs and squeaks of the newest member of the family is reassurance enough. For those who need more input, for whatever reason, the additional sensory features of the Angelcare can be lifesaving. How the Angelcare Movement Sensor Works
A sensor pad is placed under the center of baby's crib mattress on a flat, hard surface. The sensor pad cord passes underneath the mattress entirely, exiting the crib in the corner. It is then plugged into the jack of the nursery unit transmitter. The nursery unit can be plugged into an electrical outlet or it can operate with four AAA batteries. The same goes for the parents' unit receivers (two parents' units included). Turn the parents' units on by selecting either channel A or B. Make sure they're set to the same channel as the nursery unit. Set the nursery unit to the desired mode (Sound & Movement, Tic Off, or Sound Only). You may leave one parents' unit in your bedroom and carry the other with you as you move about the house and yard. Now, depending on the function you've selected, you'll be able to keep track of your baby's every sound and movement. Sound Lights
Indicator lights on an LED sound bar (on the parents' unit) allow you to "see" your baby's sounds if background noises prevent you from hearing baby. As baby's sounds get louder, more lights illuminate. Optional "Tic" Feature

Our Movement Sensor with Sound Monitor detects your baby's slightest movements, even while she sleeps. While it may seem that your baby is perfectly still when she is sleeping, she really isn't. The under-the-mattress Sensor Pad detects your baby's slightest movements. If your baby goes absolutely still for 20 seconds, the Sensor Pad sends a signal to the Nursery Unit which sounds an alarm alerting you to check your baby. If you are out of the baby's room, the two portable Parents' Units (Sound Monitor) will pick up the alarm as well as other nursery sounds. In addition, the Nursery Unit has an optional "tic" feature.  This device is the best purchase I have ever made - bar none! July 24, 2008
I bought this on the recommendation of a friend after my newborn choked while napping 2 feet away from me. This is my 3rd child, but this episode was particularly frightening to me because she did not make any noise or evidence any distress and I only happened to notice she was dark purple and not able to breathe by chance. Even though her crib is right next to our bed I was worried it would happen at night and we would not hear her and be able to help her. I bought this angelcare monitor and used it every night thereafter with no troubles - that is until about a week ago. The alarm went off and my baby was not breathing. I had been sound asleep when it happened and would never have known anything was going on. We were not able to get her breathing again easily and she ended up completely limp and blue before she started to breathe again. I had never been more focused and urgent in my life, while simultaneously being absolutely terrified. Our baby was diagnosed with a more severe form of GERD than she had previously been diagnosed with (associated with frequent spitting up). Without getting into a lengthy medical explanation, her version can cause severe apnea (failure to breathe) and death in infants. Our Dr. believes that without the angelcare monitor our baby would have died that night and we would have woken to a tragedy the following morning. She is now on a stage 2 apnea monitor 24x7, but without using the angelcare monitor and having the alarm go off we would not have known there was a problem until it was too late.
I never had interference, feedback, or any negative thoughts, experiences or opinions about any aspect of this monitor. It is unobtrusive and effective. Our family owes this product a great deal, and I plan to purchase this as my official gift to any baby shower I go to, and to recommend it to anyone and everyone I can. Even if your baby has no medial problems, I feel it is better safe than sorry. After all, we thought she was perfectly healthy.

Even with this being my third baby I still was terrified to have him sleep where I couldn't hear him. This has made it so I can sleep. We tested the alarm feature numerous times before I put my baby down to bed in a different room and I am satisfied that it works. We've had no trouble with false alarms. Remember to turn off the alarm after you take baby out though. We didn't put the board under the matress but used a square cut from cardboard box left from when we moved. It works fine. I strongly recommend having two monitors so you can leave one in your room and put the other one where you are during the day. I don't like the tic feature but it can be used to reasure the most nervous parents that the baby is still moving. It took us about 20 minutes to get everything set up because we did read the instructions. I strongly recommend this monitor to nervous parents and to others just as a precaution. It's great!

This monitor is great. It isn't a perfect unit, as it will give you a few false alarms if the baby is sleepin on the edge of crib. But the few false alarms I've had are surely worth the piece of mind. We've had used it continuously for three years and it's still in fine condition.
