Really flawed September 22, 2008

I got this Playhut stage for my daughter's sixth birthday (at Target for WAY less than the vendor here is offering). She is a big HSM fan and loves to play "rock star". I thought a pop-up stage with lights and music would be perfect for her.br /br /I expected more of a stage and less of a tent. In fact, the tent is enormous and the stage part is very small. I can't imagine how it looks so different on Amazon. The stage attaches to the tent with velcro and I'm hoping I can find a way to make it stay on better because it keeps popping off.br /br /"Lights flash onstage" means some tiny, stationary lights -- smaller than Christmas lights -- on the side of the tent. I don't see any lights on the floor part at all.br /br /The stars on the stage floor trigger REALLY LOUD percussion-type "music" that has no connection to High School Musical. You can hook in an MP3 player and that works fine. I was able to adjust the volume via the MP3 player. I could not find any volume control for the bizarre star songs. Since you need to have the audio player on before you add the MP3 player, there is no avoiding at least some of the obnoxious beats.br /br /The tent itself seems to be pretty good quality and the graphics are nice although I wish they had equal graphics on both sides. If you want Troy and Gabriella to show, you have to position it a certain way.br /br /I considered returning this but my daughter will find a way to make it work. It is too bad that they couldn't have gotten such a simple concept right. I'm giving it 2 stars because it is a decent tent and it does work, although strangely.
