Innotek URT works like a charm! September 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After trying everything under the sun to control my dog's jumping on people while at the dog park I finally resorted to the remote training collar. (She's a Boxer/Rat Terrier mix can leap 6 feet straight in the air from a standstill to lick someone's face!) What a difference! I have only been using it for a few weeks already she is at least 80% better. Now she will run up to great a person just lean into their legs or sit instead of assaulting them. I tried it on my bare arm at the level I am using for her (#3 of 9 levels) and to me it just feels like the sensation you would get if a fly bit you. Not "painful" just a bit sharp annoying. She already knew that jumping was an inappropriate greeting (but also knew she could get away with it at the off leash area!) so as soon as she starts to jump up at someone all it takes is a quick "reminder" to get her to put her feet back on the ground. No more totally ineffective screaming yelling at her from 30 feet away! Hooray! Our park outings are much more fun for both of us now!
Works well...when contact is made January 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My remote always seems to say "L" when I am pressing the button. Its supposed to be the sign of a low battery...however it always says that, even when the battery is new. Aside from that it still seems to work with the collars. I had to cut the hair on my Labs neck for the probes to make contact, but once that was done everything worked great. I gave 3 stars just because of the quirks I had to figure out to make it work a little more efficiently. Overall, its a good item and does the job.
dog trainer October 10, 2007 The dog trainer works great. The dogs responded as soon as I put it on. I use the tone part more then the shock. I never use the shock part anymore just the tone. The only down side is, when I first started using the collar for both dogs I was disiplining the wrong dog because I had it set to the wrong one. So instead of shocking the dog that needed discipline I was shocking the one that was good.br /
Works and doesn't hurt. September 23, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This works as advertised. We were hesitant to use this but while researching and talking to others we realized it was the right solution. After 2 days of only using the number 1 setting and the number 2 setting once or twice it now works with only the tone. The dogs no longer bark at the fence, dig, or stray. We did remove the smaller contacts and replace it with the larger after the first day. We also tried them on our arms and it wasn't painful.
Does what I want it to May 1, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Please note that this review is for the IUT-302 ultrasmart remote trainer for 2 dogs. This is the system that comes with a remote control and two collars - it is not a containment system or a bark control system. This is the system to help train your dog.br /br /This system does what I hoped it would do for me and my two dogs. I like the +2 feature, and the tone only option. I also like that it's the collar the emits the tone, not the remote. This way if I want to give one of my dogs a positive tone, although the other is still misbehaving they won't both get the positive reinforcement - only the dog I intend to. The +2 option is useful for those times when my dogs are being REALLY stubborn, particularly at the off-leash dog park. I find that it helps me get my dogs' attention, and that is really what it is meant to do. It doesn't hurt them, but it does surprise them out of their stubborn moods they get in. I have tried the collars on my arm at the levels I use on the dogs and it doesn't hurt. It surprises me, even though I'm expecting it (I'm giving myself the correction) and that is what it is meant to do. It just gets their attention. I can get their attention much easier than with a collar and leash alone, especially if they are off leash. If they are off leash, and in their own little worlds, sometimes I think a bomb could go off and they wouldn't ever notice, let alone hear me and my commands. But this helps me get their attention back so I don't have to go off chasing two dogs all over a park who really don't want to load back up into the car to go home. br /br /My only complaint is that every once in a while when I go to use it the remote won't come on. I have tried re-seating the battery, shaking it a little, tightening the door, pushing buttons, holding it close to the collars, and even putting a new battery in. Hours or days later though when I go to use it again - voila! It'll work just fine without a hitch. The system is easy to use, easy to set up, and has a lot of good training information with it. Their website also has a good training video to use with the collars.
