Functional November 30, 2008 Since we have 1 large (Newfoundland) dog who has some trouble with elbow arthritis and a Subaru Outback Wagon that has a fairly high rear bumper, we felt a ramp could be quite helpful for him and us. This ramp has proven its utility by being sturdy, and skid resistant, but at 25+ pounds it's rather heavy. It's obviously not nearly as heavy as lifting our unwieldy dog, though. It also takes up a fair amount of space in the rear area or the back seat (seats up). It does seem quite durable and has a latch to keep it from unfolding when ready to store. All things considered, I would buy it again unless I found a lighter/smaller version that could tolerate a 120+ pound dog as easily.
It's a ramp July 10, 2008 As far as ramps go, this one is ok. The surface scratches fairly easily, and its stability strap isn't long enough for all car types (my Element doesn't have a latch close enough to hook it to. The ramp itself is kind of wavy when stepped on, which meant my dog absolutely refused to use it. I would have liked a more solid ramp. Finally, while it folds up well, the latch holding it together is kind of flimsy for the weight of the ramp itself.br /br /Overall, it's decent, and does what it says, but I'll be looking for a more sturdy one in the future.
Great Ramp for a Big Dog June 10, 2008 I have tried several different options for helping my old Great Dane get into and out of my SUV easily. Stairs were difficult, another product that actually attached and twisted under my car broke off on the freeway, and other ramps didn't get compact enough. With this ramp, he has good traction, and it folds up relatively small, considering that it is strong enough to hold 250 pounds worth of dog. br /We had a little bit of trouble at first as my dog doesn't know where his back feet are at all times, but he's doing great with it now. br /I did have to replace the safety strap, but other than that, it's great!
Pet Gear Trifold Dog Ramp May 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was too high priced for a large dog ramp, where the dog slips 2 people need to help. One to hold the ramp so it doesnt slip, the other to guide the dog down, so it doesn't slip. It need maybe to be carpeted, and better gripping top bottom. It bounces from the weight of the animal, and folding isn't fun either. I wished I could have seen it in a store first. I would have had second thoughts.
Good ramp, no complaints February 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After looking on the internet for literally HOURS for a pet ramp that would be suitable for an SUV, I came across this one. Purchased it and we're happy with it so far. Our dog has hip dysplasia so he needed a way to get into and out of our truck without jumping or having my husband pick him up (the dog weighs 100 pounds so imagine). It's easy to open up but be careful with how you open it as you could easily smash your fingers in the process. It's sturdy enough but not "rock solid" so make sure you hold onto your dog's leash as he/she comes down or goes up the ramp. A good ramp, I would recommend it. It was also delivered quickly. We're happy and so is our dog now that he can hang out with us at the beach without feeling pain from jumping out of our truck.
