Best product for humans as well as dogs!!! October 22, 2008 This is a GREAT product!! Although it is marketed for dog's paws, if you have ruff, cracked skin, this is fantastic on your hands!! It is by far the best product I have found for my hands. I'm amazed that the company does not market it as a hand skin treatment as well. It is the only thing I have found that will quickly heal and with regular use, prevent painfull skin cracks on your fingers. Try it out on yourself as well as your dog, you won't be disappointed.
Don't think it really works..... October 16, 2008 I've used this both last winter and the previous one because my Chihuahua doesn't really care much for his boots. I have found, that even after "globbing" this stuff on, he will still lift his leg and let out a little screech in stinging pain from the salt. If that doesn't break your heart I don't know what will! It also seems to come be worn off by the time we're a only a block down the road! Unfortunately, I think boots are the way to go. No questions asked. Perhaps if you live in a more rural area (not a city polluted with ridiculous amounts of salt), this stuff may be a little more efficient.
Great Product! Good Service! September 12, 2008 This is a great product. It doesn't smell funny and is basically a natural wax/oil. It smells clean and fresh. Our Havanese loved it and let me massage it into his paws with no issues and didn't even really bother it afterwards. I've tried other products (one being a metal green tin that's recommended and found at many Walgreens that's petroleum based), and this is the best one I've found. I would certainly buy this again.
Don't believe that Vaseline is better...this stuff is great! July 9, 2008 I purchased Musher's Secret almost two years ago when we got our Bichon/Poodle. It was recommended by our dog trainer for the winter weather. However, the idea of rubbing something on the dog's feet just wasn't an idea I could embrace so I put the stuff on a shelf where it has been ever since. About two or three months ago our dog began to bite and chew on her paws all day long. Her pads were sore, dry and cracked and the vet tried different things, but nothing worked. Two days ago, while watching the dog chew frantically at her paws and feeling helpless, I suddenly remembered about the Musher's Secret. I still wasn't keen on the idea of rubbing it on bare handed so I put on some plastic, disposable gloves and rubbed the stuff into her paws. Presto! She has not chewed on her feet since that moment. I don't know why exactly, but it worked! As for substituting Vaseline, I don't think it would have the same effect, particulary for a pet with dry, cracked paws because Vaseline seals OUT moisture which is great, but it also blocks moisture from getting IN. This would not help to resolve an issue with dry cracked paws. I would be very surprised if Vaseline offered the same amount of protection from ice balls and hot pavement either. I am sure Vaseline would wreak havoc on carpets and furniture too, unlike Musher's Secret which seems undetectable once it is applied. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and worth every penny!
Musher's Secret saves snowy days for my dog! January 18, 2008 I discovered Musher's Secret many years ago, at a pet store in my area that went out of business. I haven't been able to find it since, but then I thought to try the Internet. I was SO pleased to find it listed and was able to order it from Amazon, which had the lowest price for it. br /br /It saves my dog a lot of pain, as she's a border collie with hairy feet. New soft snow forms solid snowballs between her toes without Musher's Secret, and she used to come limping home from our walks, stopping every few steps to try to bite the snowballs out from between her toes. Now that we're able to use Musher's Secret again, she's ready and willing to "mush on" as long as I'm willing to walk through the snow with her. (And it doesn't make any marks on the rugs, when she comes back in the house!)br /br /Thank you, thank you.br /br /Border Collie Fan
