I have tried in the past with lesser models with little successs. This Oster power max lives up to its name. It cut my dogs hair, (lab, Wire hair mix) with ease! Did not take very long at all. The only negitive is that with the wide angle cutter u will not be able to find those cheepo plastic sleeves to fit over it to taper the cut. If u opt to buy the more proffesional ones (all Medal) they are about $26 plus shipping). For cutting a non show dog the plastic would probably be ok for me. But overall this unit has plenty of cutting power. ; )
