Amazon.com Review Christy towels have been drying the discerning bather for more than 150 years. After bringing a Turkish towel back to England from an 1840s visit to the Sultan's Palace in Constantinople, founder Henry Christy and his brother invented the means to reproduce the previously unknown (in England) loop pile technique. Queen Victoria was an immediate fan.pDeeply luxurious, Christy's Renaissance Egyptian towels continue the company's appeal to those who appreciate the best. This 35-by-65-inch bath sheet is made only from long fiber cotton grown on the banks of the Nile. Manufactured into especially long loops, the soft and super-absorbent cotton sensuously draws moisture away from wet skin. To fully accessorize a bath, the Renaissance Egyptian collection includes bath towels, bath sheets, guest towels, hand towels, face cloths, bath mats, and rugs in a stunning array of rich colors. COLOR LIGHTER THAN DESCRIBED December 1, 2008 The color described is actually darker in the photo than the actual product. I was disappointed, especially for the price.
Superb towels October 5, 2008 br /I think I've only held a better towel a couple times in my life, at very chic hotels. However, this is a superb towel for anyone's home.br /br /My 5 year old ones felt like sandpaper in comparison.br /br /Note to self: Order 5 new towels every 3 years. It's just $100.
Excellent Product August 20, 2008 Christy Bath Sheets have made me a "towel snob". They are the best towelsbr /I have ever owned and the largest bath sheets I have ever seen. Whatever they cost, it is a bargain.
Terrible quality towels - NOT made in England either... August 13, 2008 These towels leave lint everywhere... Even after washing... They are Made in India, and are cheap quality... Since when did Christy's of England start making their hand towels in India? The hand towels are still made in England, but these bath towels are some of the worst quality I've seen :(
I love these towels! July 22, 2008 These towels are the best I've ever used. They are softer than any towel I've ever owned, yet also more absorbent. In the past I bought a set of "Hotel" towels at Marshall Fields that were incredibly soft--but they were not at all absorbent. I used them once and gave them to my cleaning lady. Christy's Embrace is both soft and absorbent and does both very well. They are made of silk, modal and cotton. If you aren't familiar with Modal, it's a fairly new fiber "invented" in Europe. It is made from cellulose from the husk of beech trees. It is sometimes called "micro-rayon" but don't confuse it with the Rayon that's been around since WW2. It's incredibly soft and 50% more absorbent than cotton and it won't pill or ravel.br /br /The new towels do have a lot of extra "fluff" that needs to be removed before use. I just put them in the dryer set on Air Fluff and keep running it through air fluff cycles until the lint trap is fairly clean after a cycle finishes. I have used towels that are heavier than these, but the Embrace towel is heavy enough and is a wonderful product.
