I got tired of having to turn on a fawcett every time I entered the kitchen or a bathroom. I have five cats and all but one are getting up there in years. For some reason, three of them have become persnickity about drinking water out of their water dish and want to lick it as it comes out of the fawcett. Not such a big problem, except a couple of them have to be lifted up onto the sink to drink from it. I ordered the Drinkwell and when it arrived, set it up in place of their old water dish. My oldest cat walked over to it, and imediately started drinking from it. The others soon came around also. My sink drinkers took the longest, but they, too are now using it and =====

Both of my cats love to drink out of the faucet. When I am trying to get ready, brush my teeth, wash my face anything that involves the bathroom sink I have to fight for space with the cats. I push them off but they keep coming back. So we opted to try this fountain out. At first our cat was hesitant. We put it on the bathroom counter near the sink since that's the area they are used to getting water from. We stopped letting them drink out of the faucet and directed them to the fountain. After a couple of days our cat warmed up to the idea, she only drinks out of the stream. It has saved me from wasting water since I'd often turn on the faucet for them and walk away and forget about it. Also it ensures they can drink whenever they want. They never drink out of their regular bowls! So far it works great and it's not too loud. Sometimes the lid gets positioned in a way that vibrates but if you just push it down firmly it quiets the noise. I thought this came with the wheatgrass kit. But it only comes with the Aqua Garden "adapter", no seeds. So if you want the Aqua Garden kit you need to buy it separately. The adapter only lets you connect the Aqua Garden kit to the Platinum fountain.

I would refer this product to anyone. I am very pleased with the large container for the water and it really does encourage my 3 cats to drink more water which can be a problem in cats from what I understand. Two out of the three enjoy drinking from the falling water like it comes out of a faucet. Very good product. Don't have to fill the tank every day or even every other day. Such a joy.

I did my usual research on pet watering units and happened upon this one, the NEW 2008 Drinkwell Platinum Fountain. This unit filters debris in two different ways. I use distilled water in it and have no mineral buildup at all. This fountain runs silently and is simple to clean; my three cats love it. It is a quality product and fills my needs for cool clean drinking water for my cats.
