Robot is Ineffective, Smells Terrible, Reg. Litter Box is Better July 15, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Litter Robot was the biggest waste of money. My cat is scared to go near it. I followed directions exactly as the website says I should prepare my cat. After 3 months of the robot being used regularly, it stopped working. The Customer service sucks! When I contacted the manufacturer of the broken box, they just said "your warrantee has expired" it was short & not helpful.
Litter Robot is worth every penny! July 10, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I absolutely love the litter robot. My two kittens took to it right away from 8.5 weeks on- I had it set up next to the small-sized litter box recommended for kittens. They definitely preferred the litter robot so I took down the smaller box and we've had no accidents. I keep it in the off position because they don't weigh that much. Although I have noticed that when I cycle it manually they come running and jump up to see what is going on. Even at their weight (2 lbs), it immediately stops the cycle. I wont' leave it on until they get a little bigger and a little less curious- yesterday one of them got jumped in while it was turning- it stopped- and I had to take her out. This product is worth the high price- no smell until you open the drawer to empty and I love that it can use normal trash bags!
So far, so good July 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I haven't had this litter box (globe?) for very long, but so far I like it. More importantly, so do my cats. I have two that are over 15 lbs., but the Litter Robot is holding up. The only problem I have isn't with the robot, it's with one of the big cats. 17 lb Sam doesn't always turn around when he uses it, so his furry little butt hangs outside when he poops. But that's his problem (and mine), not the robot's. I suppose if it was bigger (or Sam was smaller) it would accomodate him, but I really can't imagine it being any bigger. It does have a smaller footprint than other automatic litter boxes I've had, but it's still pretty big. Quite a conversation starter, though! People are always facinated.
Needs some tweaking... July 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, the LitterRobot does as it claims. Pros: Saves you time in scopping and cuts down on odor. Cons: No matter how often you clean out the globe, the cat's mess gets stuck to the top of the globe when it rotates. I'm not happy about my cat's head rubbing against mess that sticks to the inside top of the globe. Also, about once a month, he forgets to turn around with his head sticking out, and does his business on the steps. For an additional $20 you can buy 2 things that "help" seal out the odor even more. This didn't appear to help with mine. Every 5 days I need to change the bag. If the cat's turd is too big, it can cause the "window" that opens to jam. This will cause the mess to smear on the outside. I thoroughly cleaned the globe 2 days ago, and although not as bad as a regular box, I can still smell it! Ugh! It needs some tweaking.
I love this kitty box! Worth every penny. July 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After well over 5 years with a litter maid II, self-cleaning kitty box, I was forced to find a replacement as the rake started getting stuck, needing a push to rake the liter. So, given the length of time that had passed since looking into them I hit the internet and read everything about any litter box out there. I read the reviews and made my decision based on them; hence, I am writing one as well. Far and above in positive ratings was the Litter Robot. I took the leap, about 3 weeks ago. I brought the monster in... thinking that well yea, it does kind of look a robot, and it most definitely looks high tech (relative to the current system I was using). So, I put it in the area where the prior box was, moving it in front of the robot. I left the old box there, nasty as it was, helping it along with the raking and cleaning the old liter away. The first day, both my kitties... (one a big boy that I was worried about in dealing with the new box).. ignored the new box and went in the old one. The second day, my youngest kitty spent half the day with his head in the new box. Third day, no liter on old box, new robot is whirring and twirling. And its been great since. With the two kitties I have emptied the box once so far. The only smell I get is when one of them have gone in and done their business and the red light is on.. indicating its going to do its spin. Given the reviews I also made sure I got the additional lining and filters. A wonderful machine and my life has simplified beautifully!
