The gates are sturdy and I would never buy another brand. Perfect baby gate   July 25, 2008 The gate was not completely easy to install, but it works perfectly at the top of our stairs. I'm able to open with one hand, and it is very secure that my son cannot get through. An OK gate, plan on installation taking a while   June 7, 2008 I read other reviews for this gate and I agree totally with them. The instuctions to install the gate are terrible. It is supposed to come with mounting templates that tell you how the screws are spaced and we didn't receive anything of the sort. Little help was available on their website or when we called their support number. The gate seems sturdy enough but expect some problems if the opening you are installing it into happens to fall at just the right width. Stair gate   May 1, 2008 When it comes to gates that you can use that attach directly to your stairs spindles there aren't many to chose form. Hence the kdco one was the only one I found that you could install without drilling holes into my beautiful wood bannisters. However you have to buy both assembelies and once it is all said and done you ahve spent over $150 dollars for a safety gate. I guess its worth it to protect the little ones. Excellent Gate!!   April 11, 2008 I am very impressed with this gate. It is very durable! I have two older children who slam this and climb on it and it still holds up to keep the baby safe from the stairs. The installation directions were very sketchy but I have a carpenter in the family so we were able to install it okay. We did have to read the directions several times to understand. It latches tight every time! I would definetely recommend this gate for stairway safety!!
