1 out of 5 stars Hunk of Junk! Cheap "Littermaid" for those not wanting to pay $100   February 13, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

This is a hunk of junk. I had a fully automatic Littermaid and this "one-step" is just a cheap knock-off of the original. If you don't constantly run over there and step on it so it scoops the litter it gets jammed up whenever it tries to scoop more than one bathroom usage. This is for people who have heard great things about Littermaids from their friends and family so they want one but don't want to pay $100. Think Littermaid's going to have a lot of disgruntled customers. All this is is a cat box with a rake that you step-on to trigger it to move, why is it even $40+? Should be less than $20 tops.

4 out of 5 stars NO MORE SMELL!!!!!   January 10, 2008

I have looked at the reviews for every automatic or Semi automatic litter box on the market. I decided to try the Semi automatic. I have to say that if you want something for nothing or you think that anything will do all your work for you, then don't buy any type of automatic or Semi automatic box!br /br /br /br /I have 2 cats they adjusted the first day. I bought the multiple cat clumping litter filled it to the line put the plastic container in and waited till they went. I noticed that I put to much litter in even thought I only filled it to the line. I took some out and it worked like a dream! I would rather press the button then it run buy it self because I don't have to worry about the cats being in the box when it starts. I do have to press it every morning and every night but I would say that is clears 95% of the clumps and sometimes I have to scoop but that is part of having cats. At times it has to much weight and stops so I just use the scoop and get a few of the larger clumps and then it goes just fine. It is such a relief not to have to dump the entire box clean it out and then dry it and put another bag in for it to smell in a few hours. I would buy this again in a secondbr /

1 out of 5 stars Better off without this one.   October 28, 2007
I owned the fully automatic one for about 4 years before it broke down. After looking around I saw this one, it looked very similar but cost quite a bit less at the time and all I had to do was tap the paw to start the cleaning, seemed like a fair trade-off. br /br /I immediately noticed a difference between this one and the fully automatic one I had previously. br /1) The rakes on this one are wider, thereby allowing the debris to fall apart while scraping, which falls through the rakes. Bottom line it leaves more of the waste in the box.br /2) I have tried at least five different litters, including the one I successfully used in my last box and other "premium" litters which this box requires, none of them were what I would call successful with this machine.br /3)While you are sleeping or away from home the kitties keep-on keepin'on; by the time you are available to tap the paw and get this box cleaning, the debris has built up to a point where the box doesn't have the power to clean. It struggles to complete the job, if it can complete the job! (Two options, you can keep pushing the paw until it gets through or until you get frustrated and clean it yourself, you know, manually.) br /4) When it scrapes it's supposed to push open the lid of the receptacle to allow in the waste. With this model it either doesn't lift the lid high enough or in the right amount of time to allow a smooth process. You end up with waste on the lid, embedded between the rake, falling back into the box or falling back behind the rake (then moved through the litter and left behind the rake housing or on the wall/floor behind the box).br /br /Bottom line: If you cannot afford the fully automatic version, I'd recommend keeping the old-fashioned clean-it-yourself box while you save up. I have been grumbling and complaining about this box for three months and I'm looking to invest AGAIN in a full-automatic model.

2 out of 5 stars LITTER MESS   August 30, 2007
NOT AS GOOD AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE. NOT MUCH POWER, SO WON'T CLEAN AND DUMP IF THERE IS EVEN A MODERATE AMT. OF CLUMPS. DOESN'T REACH NEAR THE BOTTOM, SO I ALWAYS STILL HAVE TO SCOOP IT MYSELF.

1 out of 5 stars Doesn't deserve a whole star!   July 30, 2007

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I bought this locally to replace the original littermaid box that finally died after a couple of years use. Semi-automatic means you have to step on the pedal for the rake to work. The smell is WAY worse with this piece of junk, since you have to get in the habit of pushing the pedal and then it won't rake because it's overloaded. Hard to get the receptacle out and box doesn't quite fit in the tent. Now I can't take it back to the store, one, because it's obviously used, too embarrassed, and two, I already threw out the box receipt. Prefer the original, but don't expect to get more than 2 years use out of that one.
