We tried this in order to train our 5 month old pup. We had a problem with digging in yard, pulling plants and flowers out of ground and other usual typical puppy antics. What we have found is that if she gets zapped once while doing something she should not be doing, she doesn't do it again.We use the audible sound as a warning and that is usually enough and the electronic shock is not necessary. In my opinion, you only want to use the shock for truly unacceptable behavior. Over use to my mind could take the spirit out of dog.
Also, would like to compliment the manufacture for having first rate telephone customer service.....open on a Saturday, the rep spoke knowledgeably and best of all spoke clear english.

This collar is absolutly amazing!!! We adopted a 10 month old lab mix from a rescue, although he was very sweet he had NO MANNERS! Never listened, basically did exactly what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it. I reluctantly ordered this collar in hopes of a miracle and guess what? It really was a miracle! In a matter of a week I had a brand new dog! He is very well behaved! He no longer jumps on anyone, he doesn't steal food from the kid's little table, he no longer tries to take food from my kids, he doesn't chase my little chickens, he is the best trained dog I have ever owned!!!! I have to give all the credit to this collar, it changed a dog that I didn't think I could keep into a beloved family member!!!!!!! Also I have to tell you that I only had to use the shock portion of the collar a few times, after that the noise was enough. Do yourself a favor and invest in one of these collars! Just make sure you order extra batteries, and so you know, whatch the battery selection that comes up when ordering because they are not necessarily the right batteries, I order the wrong ones, and I ordered them with the collar, so be sure to pay attention, otherwise, the best $100.00 you will ever spend for your dog!

ok, it works acceptably as a training aid. the shock is rather powerful and the beeping nosie is ok. but the shock doesnt seem to do much on even a medium sized dog unless its at the maximum level, at which point you feel like you are torturing the poor dog. the buttons tend to either stick down and continue making the noise or keeps shocking the dog. not pleasant for you, and mistakes with these are libel to undo any training they had with it because they get shocked for no reason. the batteries in the collar seem to die, even when it is off and not used for a month. the remote battery is great though. my advice that i have the good sense to follow, is dont waste your money on a second, nay third rate product. spend the extra 20 on something that wont be a total pain in the toosh.

This product works as advertised. We are the proud owners of female basset that tends to do what she wants so we invested in the collar. The remote has two buttons one for shock and one for tone. I found that a very low shock followed by a tone worked great and corrected behavior quickly. We only need the tone now. Make sure you test the shock on yourself before using it on the dog so you know how it feels.
The 3 star rating is based on the product quality. It's not made well. This is the 3rd collar we've had in 2 months. The first came to us and didn't shock but the tone worked. The second lasted approximately a month and would not turn one day. We purchased new batteries and still nothing. The third one is working fine so far...knock on wood. Battery life is 2-3 weeks with daily use. Amazon has been okay to deal with on these issues.
Bottomline is the product works well when it works right. GOOD LUCK!!!
 Good training method March 17, 2008
This really works well with our German Shorthaired Pointer. He immediately stops whatever he's doing at the time he gets zapped. He often responds just to the beep sound only. My only beef is that the battery has a short life and it's an expensive battery to replace.
