The Only ball-shaped toy she'll consider... December 11, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Yup. Cats are picky creatures and every cat is "differently demanding". It appears that cat toys don't escape the pass/fail tests that everything else you hopefully plunk in front of them must endure. For every cat who won't waste two seconds of its cushy life to sniff around these glitter balls, there's another cat (mine) who won't touch any other kind of ball-shaped toy if it's not one of these glitter balls. She goes nuts for these things and they're actually quite hard to find in stores. We already know she's a physical anomaly (really long and fat), maybe it has carried over to toy preferences. Who knows? Cats. I think she enjoys these glitter balls because she can easily pick them up and jump up onto the bed or couch with them in her teeth. She can't do that with the harder balls or more solid toys. I think the glitter flashes a bit and it's easier for her to see. But I'm just guessing here. Things that amuse my cat don't seem to follow any particular pattern. Unless tuna juice is a pattern.
Let the buyer beware!!!! January 1, 2005 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased some glitter pom-poms a couple years ago, don't know the manufacturer but they were extremely well made. The polyester fiber balls were tight so the mylar strands could not be pulled out. I was unable to find the same type of balls and found these online-they looked very similar but until you actually have them in your hand...well, these pom-poms are squishy, the fibers are very loose and fluffy. I was able to simply pull the whole ball apart with my hands. I have one cat who is fond of string, rubberbands and yep, mylar! He immediately began pulling the strands out with his teeth and attempting to eat them. I opted to throw the balls out in the trash and waste $2.50 rather than spend $1000 to stitch up my cat's intestines. If the manufacturer can fix this problem, even if it means a price increase, I'd be happy to try them again but till then, I do not recommend this toy.
