Why these scissors have a bent handle July 11, 2008

Since I have become a scissors expert, I was asked why do some scissors have a bent handle? These are also called "offset" handles. The answer is because of the type of application they are meant to perform. The bent handle keeps the cutting hand off of the cutting surface such as a table top or bench such that the scissors can glide through the material without it bunching up and distorting the cut.br /br /Straight handle scissors are better suited for cutting through material that you can free hold with your other hand. I have purchased many pairs of this brand, not because they have worn out or have broken but because I wanted to replace any that I need to use with these. I have several pairs at home and replaced the ones at work at my own expense. There are no better that I have found. They are sturdy, fit your hand, stay as sharp as they were when new forever, and eliminate all those annoying snags and stalls of inferior scissors. So if your scissors have any problems at all and you need to reduce just one source of frustration at work or home, just get these scissors, they don't cost that much.
