Product Description DIVP style="MARGIN: 0in -1.5in 0pt 0in; LINE-HEIGHT: 12pt; mso-pagination: none; tab-stops: 9.7pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"In 1965, the Grateful Dead came to life in the heart of San Francisco#8217;s hippie counterculture. Founding members Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron #8220;Pigpen#8221; McKernan, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann (and soon after, Mickey Hart) created a unique blend of improvisational rock, folk, blues, and psychedelia, and the Dead went on to become one of the greatest jam bands of all time, releasing more than ten studio albums and touring constantly for legions of Deadheads. /PP style="MARGIN: 0in -1.5in 0pt 0in; LINE-HEIGHT: 12pt; mso-pagination: none; tab-stops: 9.7pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none" /PP style="MARGIN: 0in -1.5in 0pt 0in; LINE-HEIGHT: 12pt; mso-pagination: none; tab-stops: 9.7pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"In IGrateful Dead 365/I, five decades of intimate portraits, candid backstage shots, and colorful performance images take readers on the band#8217;s remarkable journey from the mid-sixties to the twenty-first century. I Hate the Grateful Dead January 6, 2009 I have never liked the Grateful Dead. I don't think they belong in any consideration of classic rock and roll groups. It doesn't matter how many Deadheads play me cuts and try to impress me with supposedly deep lyrics. Other than their vocals, musicianship, and lyrics, I'm okay with them. That being said, I got this as a Christmas present for an unabashed Grateful Dead fan and they were ecstatic. To each his own. If I could be objective about the group, I probably would have given this a higher rating. I have bought other books in the 365 series, Beatles, Stones, Comic Books, Wisdom, and they've all been great. So, if you're a wanna be hippy, what's that, a whippy?, then this is the book for you. Roll Away the Dew. Yeah, right.
Product Great; Shipping terrible December 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Love the book but Amazon didn't package it well. It arrived with the box half open and the book's spine broken. Terrible!! I'll shop at my local borders from now on....
