5 out of 5 stars I OWE IT ALL TO AMAZON REVIEWS!   August 1, 2008
I've been through it all--LitterMaid, rollovers, sifters, rakes, scoops pine shavings wheat hulls painful little starch balls to step on barefoot...AGGHHH! The box was never clean enough and I was always guilty and lying my way out of having visitors and admitting repairmen. This is a blessed release, a miracle! I would never, ever have given it anything but a derisive hoot if it hadn't been for the incredible reviews--practically 100% positive! You can't get this many people to agree on a book about knitting mittens, let alone something so chancy involving cats--and that's what sold me. Sooooo, I used my birthday money and bought the Litter Monster. I've only had it a few weeks, and the smart little girl cat, the b&w cow cat, hopped right in before the first hour passed, and said, "Well! Isn't this NICE!" She not only uses it perfectly, but gallops back down the hall ten minutes later to watch it work. She's gotten the cycle time down pat, so much so that she came squeaking down the hall to get me once when the Monster inexplicably halted--"It's not supposed to do that! Come quick!" The boyz aren't so sure. I suspect the old coot is just too lazy, but not scared; when I've been able to sort of pour him into the front of the Monster, the sand inspires the results--but he won't get in there for himself... The flighty, nervous, over-intellectual middle cat (yes, Siamese, how did you know?) was stark terrified. He still won't give it a chance and I don't want to imprint him with terror by forcing him in; instead, I keep silent, maintain the "old" box and offer up fervent hopeful prayers to the cat gods. He has come as far as following Miss Cowcat down the hall and peering over her shoulder, poised for flight should the Litter Monster try to eat him. Wish us luck...

5 out of 5 stars The best thing ever!   July 31, 2008
After 3 days of using a regular litter box I knew I had to find a better way. So like everyone else I started looked for an automatic litter box that actually worked and my searching led me to the Litter Robot. But for $320 I was a little hesitant. But what the heck, if it is was as good as the reviews it would be worth it. After 6 months of use I would buy another one in a second. Seriously if the one I have broke, I would order another that same day. I have two cats and they both use it with no problems. They only took a few days to get used to it and have never looked back. They are both about 11 pounds and have no problem fitting inside. Even with both cats using it I only have to empty the drawer every 4-5 days. Plus its great you can use any type of trash bag.

1 out of 5 stars Nice idea but.....................   July 20, 2008

Looks like I'm really in the minority here, but I felt I wanted to share my experience. My cat found Litter Robot EXTREMELY confining (she is not a large cat)...so much so that she spent several minutes each trip inside the bubble just "kicking up littler" in a frenzy. As a result, her back (under the fur) would become saturated with littler particles and other nasty stuff. Needless to say, she was very dirty and upset within days of getting this product. As cats are very clean animals, this just was not the potty for her. Maybe most cats do not act like this, and I really wanted to like this product, but in the end, we just went back to the good old Littermaid where she has plenty of room.

1 out of 5 stars Robot is Ineffective, Smells Terrible, Reg. Litter Box is Better   July 15, 2008

The Litter Robot was the biggest waste of money. My cat is scared to go near it. I followed directions exactly as the website says I should prepare my cat. After 3 months of the robot being used regularly, it stopped working. The Customer service sucks! When I contacted the manufacturer of the broken box, they just said "your warrantee has expired" it was short & not helpful.

5 out of 5 stars Litter Robot is worth every penny!   July 10, 2008

I absolutely love the litter robot. My two kittens took to it right away from 8.5 weeks on- I had it set up next to the small-sized litter box recommended for kittens. They definitely preferred the litter robot so I took down the smaller box and we've had no accidents. I keep it in the off position because they don't weigh that much. Although I have noticed that when I cycle it manually they come running and jump up to see what is going on. Even at their weight (2 lbs), it immediately stops the cycle. I wont' leave it on until they get a little bigger and a little less curious- yesterday one of them got jumped in while it was turning- it stopped- and I had to take her out. This product is worth the high price- no smell until you open the drawer to empty and I love that it can use normal trash bags!
